Checking the electric fence with Stella☺️

This tree seems to be hurting itself with overloaded branches.

Nice to see the deer OUTSIDE of the chestnut orchard!

Snug as a bug in a rug

Frig is full!

I can't say I don't love rainy days but it is a welcomed relief to see the sun and blue skies! And a beautiful forecast ahead! Now the nuts are falling!!

This could be an option on a meditation app- "rain in the chestnut orchard " ☺️

If you are curious about chestnuts, come on out! We'll teach you how to gather them and give you info about how to store and cook them. We have about 700 trees, mostly Chinese cultivar varieties but some Europeans too. We will be open as long as they are falling from the trees, 3-4 weeks.
Closed Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Open every other day 10-5

There are SO many chestnuts in the trees getting ready! If you are hoping for a large quantity of 🌰 it might be worth waiting a few days to a week. We have about 700 trees. Some of them are dropping 🌰 but there's not a carpet of nuts yet. They are coming though!! We will have some washed and bagged pre-picked nuts too.

Chestnut Harvest Update:
Opening day will be Friday, September 25th!
We will be open every day except Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Hours will be 10am-5pm.
This year we are going to be closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This will give us a chance to clean up different areas of the orchard. Our goal is that this will mean a more pleasant u-pick setting, less old burrs to trample through!!

I know this page has been a lot about flowers but.... Chestnuts are coming! September brings on the countdown. We have been working hard and hoping for a good harvest despite some difficult weather influence! Stay tuned for more updates about when we will open (hint, we still have several weeks)

Some guests to the garden are welcome! Others are feared! I now keep a tennis racket in the garden. Found a dead horsefly in the garage and had to inspect it:) That sucker bit me!
