FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FBI ANNOUNCES INDICTMENT OF CATIARCA ORGANIZED CRIME FAMILY LEADERS
SOUTH HAVEN, MI - The Feline Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today that a federal grand jury has returned an indictment charging four members of the Catiarca Organized Crime Family with various offenses, including labor racketeering, extortion, bribery, witness tampering, and attempted purrder.
The defendants are:
- Tiger, aka Fat Tony The Mouse Bouncer, 7, of South Haven, the alleged crime boss of the Catiarca family;
- Aston Martin, aka Pretty Girl, 4, of South Haven, the alleged underboss of the Catiarca family;
- Elwood Blues, aka Purr Machine, 2, of South Haven, the alleged capo of the Catiarca family; and
- Zippo, aka The Gray Demon, 2, of South Haven, the alleged enforcer and hit man for the Catiarca family.
According to the indictment, the Catiarca family has been operating as a criminal enterprise in South Haven and surrounding areas for several years, engaging in illegal activities such as controlling the local mouse trade, extorting businesses and residents, bribing public officials, and intimidating and harming anyone who opposed them.
The indictment alleges that the defendants conspired to commit and committed acts of violence, including the attempted purrder of Aladdin, a former associate of the Catiarca family who cooperated with the FBI and testified against them in a previous trial. The indictment also alleges that the defendants paid Moozey Moo, aka Fat Moo, a mob informant for the FBI, to provide them with information on the whereabouts of Aladdin, who was placed in witness protection after receiving death threats from the Catiarca family.
The indictment is the result of a long-term investigation by the FBI, with the assistance of the South Haven Police Department and the Michigan State Police. The investigation involved the use of undercover agents, confidential sources, wiretaps, surveillance, and search warrants.
"The indictment of these four individuals marks a significant blow to the Catiarca Organized Crime Family and their reign of terror in South Haven," said Special Agent in Charge Fluffy McFlufferson of the FBI's Detroit Field Office. "The FBI is committed to working with our law enforcement partners to dismantle organized crime groups and protect the public from their violent and corrupt activities."
The defendants are expected to make their initial appearances in feral court, in the facebook group of "This cat is INNOCENTof all charges", later today. This is a notoriously criminal friendly jury pool, but the facts which will be presented as so irrefutable according to the DA, there is no way these defendants will skirt the long arm of the law this time. If convicted, they face maximum sentences of life imprisonment for the attempted purrder charge, and up to 20 years imprisonment for each of the other charges.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kitty Kat of the Western District of Michigan.
An indictment is merely an accusation, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
