When it rains it pours….I can go months with not losing an animal and then I can go barely a week….our sweet Vivian is not feeling good. No clue what’s going on but she’s not acting like her sassy self.

Owning animals has so many emotions, they bring you happiness and joy and unconditional love….and they also bring you heart break. You own them for their lifetime, not yours. Their lifetime can be long or it can be short. 4 years ago this sweet young kitten wandered up and we got to love her for 4 years. She was a stubborn cat all the way up to the end. Some may never understand my sadness when it comes to my animals and that’s ok, God gave me a caring and loving heart towards animals. I often question why so I get more when I know it’s going to break my heart. I know she’s running with Frankie and Bob and all my other animals and they will wait for me on the rainbow bridge until I can see them again. I made sure Milo (her son) got to see her body before I buried her because believe it or not animals mourn. Until I get there, chase the chipmunks and eat the cat nip sweet Phantom.

I love seeing how they’ve all changed!

Happy 5th birthday to our main rooster, Willie! Fun fact we hatched Willie from our own eggs and he almost died on us that first day. He can be a mean one but he has protected all our girls from many predators, but mainly just me😜 they got to have some watermelon and worms for his birthday.

Just a heads up, our ducks are going through a molt and haven’t been laying eggs. Also our chickens are getting ready to molt, so they’ve slowed production. Please be patient with our ladies as they transform!

Sweet little Darla finally laid her first egg! She’s laid 3 total so far, which makes her about 3-4 months old. If you didn’t know, I acquired Darla because she was found in an alleyway in the town by us.

My best friend named my hobby farm but he also had a different suggestion…he’s got a great sense of humor. He made me these photos with AI. Which would you have named my farm?

I’ve been keeping a secret! Don’t worry my husband knows now. 4 years ago a lady had found a chicken in the alley way in the city and she had posted on many groups but no one would claim it(as it’s illegal to have chickens in city limits). So I told her I’d gladly take her, enter Audrey who I had a year and a half and then she died from water belly(look it up). Enter this lady a month ago putting out there she had found a young chicken (no baby fluff) in the alley by her house. She posted on Facebook, no one answered. So she remembered me and messaged me. I wasn’t planning on getting ANY babies (as my hubby said no!), but I couldn’t let her just go. So meet Darla! I think she’s either americauna or an Easter egger. She’s beautiful and so so sweet. She loves to perch on my shoulder or sit on my hand. She’s still too little to put in with the big chickens but she’s rooming next to Alma.

A couple weeks ago my sweet Waylon had an episode where he basically died, and I was able to revive him back to life. Today I put him and the hens in the barn quick and was walking out to go around and when I came in, he was down again. I picked him up And tried doing what I had done before and to no avail I could not bring him back and he passed away in my arms being told even though he could be mean he was the sweetest of the boys. I hatched him out 4 1/2 years ago, and have raised him since. He did his job and protected my girls from so many predators, and me. I know most will think you’re upset about a silly rooster. But I have a tender heart towards animals and I hand raised this little boy/or should I say a big boy. and even though he could be mean, he was the sweetest of the boys and he will definitely be missed. I’ll see you on the rainbow bridge Waylon Birdie. 🌈
