This is one if my favorite things we’ve ever done!
We do our own apple breeding, something super uncommon for apple orchards. It can be difficult to convey this to the public, so this weekend we decided to invite our customers to be part of the process. We harvested a new variety from our test orchard and asked folks to vote whether we should grow more of it, and what it should be named.
Some favs so far: jabron lames, poncho, AutuMN wish, ravishing rose, not crabby, and ‘apple.’ Also, shout out to those that unknowingly came up with pre-existing apple names such as Rosegold and Jonathon, and to the creator of ‘Minnesota Sunrise,’ who went the extra mile and submitted 6 times 🤪
And no matter the name, the response has been overwhelmingly positive, so we may just have another apple release on our hands!
