I'm so lucky to get to make the cakes and cupcakes for the Games Department's launch party at the University of Utah every year. This year, the theme was Pokemon so we did this gravity defying 4-tiered cake along with two side cakes and a whole bunch of cupcakes topped with Pokeballs. The main cake took quite a bit of engineering, several trips to Home Depot, some airbrushing, and some edible images but what really topped it off were all of the Funko pops that were in the office of one of the professors. They just kept coming and we kept popping them on!

The second cake was an extra tall all black tier with Pokemon kanto gym badges all the way around it and then the third cake was a Pokemon stadium with a 3D pokemon ball on top. This order was a beast to deliver and set up but I loved how it turned out!

They chose Lemonberry Cake, Rainbow Bright Cake, Cookies & Cake, and Brownie Lovers for their flavors. That's a nice little spread!

Just a little floral cake for your Monday morning! Lara and her husband had two kids getting married this year and I cannot imagine that level of stress 😬 Both weddings were absolutely beautiful in their own right and the two couples chose very different designs. Up first was this hand piped spring colored buttercream flower cake with a ruffled border. The beautiful couple chose I Do D’Eclair Cake and Raspberry Lemon Cheesecake Cake for their flavors. I hope this design never goes out of style!

Texture is in right now with wedding cakes and it reminds me of this all draped wedding cake I made very early on in my caking career. It was all marshmallow fondant shaped and draped to create this pattern. While is might look effortless, it was truly a labor of love. It was much bigger than it appears so wheeling it into the Utah State Capitol building was terrifying. I love how it turned out with this beautiful white and purple flowers in front of the marble backdrop. Give me all the texture this year for wedding cakes!

I've been wanting to make a slab cake for a while now so what better way to start off this trend than with an 8-foot long cake? I've been making Katerina's birthday cakes for 12 years 🥹 and when she graduated this year, her mom wanted to go all out with the most amazing party. There were books filled with flowers, stunning floral cookies by Natalie Puikkonen , a vintage perfume bar, personalized dried flower table settings, I mean, just absolutely breathtaking details.

The cake was four flavors: Saucy Bananas, Caramel & Chocolate, Mocha Java, and Caramel Apple Cake split into two 4 foot long slabs each. A huge thank you to Alice Bloem Florals for providing these incredible flowers and helping us set up for over an hour and a half. Totally worth it!

It was a true labor of love for this amazing young woman who I have watched grow up over the years. I'm so excited to see where her future takes her. Congratulations, Katerina!!

It feels like it's a million degrees outside, doesn't it? I spent the day yesterday with some of my favorite cake ladies on a lake here in Utah paddleboarding, eating good food, talking, and relaxing with our feet in the sand. I'm so lucky to have such a supportive group of cakers that are friends, rather than competitors.

Yesterday reminded me of this cake that Aly wanted for Glenn's second birthday. How cute is this theme? Way down yonder on the Chatta-TWO-Chee! We did some waves with little baby boy in a floatie and a grape snow cone and burger, just like Alan Jackson said. There were other summer treat favorites around the cake and then an old school tape on top. Last year, we did a Biggie cake so why not go with 90s Country for #2? This one cracked me up! Happy Birthday, Glenn!

Photography is such an art and hiring the best photogs for your wedding is so important! Claire Marika Photography is one of the absolute best! I love her style, her eye for the perfect shot, and I'm so lucky that she sent me these amazing photos of a dried flower wedding cake I made for the Cactus & Tropicals open house a few weeks back. Bring on color and flowers this wedding season!

It's been forever since I posted so why not start back up on May 4th? Amy ordered this lego Millennium Falcon cake for a bridal shower years ago and it's still one of my favorite Star Wars themed cakes. I remember it taking hours and hours to shape, make each piece, get that Lego texture, and get the detailing right out of marshmallow fondant. I loved how it turned out and so did this little fella' that I saw checking out the cake after I delivered it. So adorable!!
