Our Randall Lineback herd on the farm as the light and leaves change with the season 🐄🍁. Cheeses & yogurt from our cows will be available at our Farmstand tomorrow at Kent Barns Second Saturday, alongside our autumn harvest of fruits, vegetables, flowers, eggs, and more. We’ll have a large selection of plants from our greenhouses as well, and there will be live music under the Big Maple Tree from 12pm to 3pm for Second Saturday Kent Barns CT 🍁

Kent Barns October Second Saturday is on October 10th! 🍁 A time to enjoy autumn with Live Music under the big maple tree, our RCF Farmstand & Swyft shop, art galleries with new fall exhibitions, and local shops to explore.

At our Farmstand, the autumn harvest continues: cauliflower and broccolini make their first appearance this week, joining carrots, cabbage, leafy greens, herbs, and other cool-weather crops. Apples, raspberries, tomatoes, and peppers are still available, plus our usual RCF cheeses, eggs, maple syrup, and beef cuts. We will also be bringing a large selection of houseplants, including larger statement pieces, to bring a little greenery indoors as the temperatures drop. 🌿 Farmstand photos here are from last weekend, and we look forward to spending this Second Saturday with you.

Carrots are a cool-weather crop, and our first batch of the season will be at this Saturday’s Farmstand 🥕 we grow a colorful variety of purple, yellow, and orange carrots with their vibrant leafy carrot greens.

Farmstand table moments from last Saturday 🌿 we’re continuing the Farmstand into October as long as the fields keep producing our colorful harvests. On the market menu for this upcoming weekend, we’ll have fruits (apples, raspberries), vegetables (bok choy, peppers, squash, carrots, tomatoes, kale and other leafy greens, & more), herbs, cut flowers, and all our farm staples like eggs, cheeses, beef cuts, yogurt. 🍅🥕🥬🧄🌶️

Our dairy crew reports that our Farmstand will be open tomorrow, Saturday 10AM to 2PM in the red barn Kent Barns CT offering Rock Cobble Creamery cheeses and yogurts made from our Randall cattle herd’s raw milk, as well as Swyft Restaurant & Bar goods, and a harvest list full of our fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers from this week.

Our fall flush of raspberries 🌱 they’re often thought of as a midsummer fruit, but many varieties of raspberries produce a second crop later in the season. With shorter days and cooler temperatures, this second crop can have a different concentration of flavor and fragrance than the first. Our newsletter this week suggests a vinaigrette recipe that shows raspberries can be as suited to savory cooking as to sweet. We’ll have some berries at the Farmstand this Saturday, 10am to 2pm.

Early autumn abundance still brings a variety of fruits & vegetables to our Farmstand today — raspberries, apples, cucamelons, peppers, okra, rainbow swiss chard, cabbages, heirloom tomatoes, leafy greens, and more. We have flowers for decoration and flowers to eat, plants for indoors as the weather cools down, maple syrup and teas from our farm, baked goods and treats from Swyft Restaurant & Bar, and a book recommendation table from House of Books. Tomatillos are tart, citrusy, faintly herbal, and currently in season. It is native to Mexico and was cultivated long before the tomato became a widely established crop. Our newsletter this week offers a recipe suggestion for a charred tomatillo & heirloom tomato salsa with herbed yogurt. You can find tomatillos as a part of the weekly harvest at our Farmstand this Saturday, 10am to 2pm in the red barn Kent Barns CT.

For tomorrow’s Second Saturday Kent Barns CT, we’re bringing the greenhouse to the Farmstand for a plant-focused day. From verdant house plants to unique ornamental varieties — Ferns, Peperomias, Begonias, Streptocarpus, Ornamental ginger, Bromeliads, Rosemary topiaries, and carnivorous pitcher plant to name a few 🌿. We’ll also have produce from this week’s harvest, as well as maple syrup, farm-fresh eggs, raw milk cheeses, beef, and more from our farm. Swyft Restaurant & Bar as always will be offering fresh bread, treats, and other pantry delights.

There will be live music, art, shopping, & an autumnal air tomorrow at Kent Barns Kent Barns CT Second Saturday. We’ll be on the red barn from 10AM to 2PM!

Our apple orchards have had good weather this season and we’ve started bringing our crop each week to the Farmstand 🍎. There are 25 different varieties on our farm, which will change which types we have on hand as the season unfolds.

Second Saturday at Kent Barns CT brings live music with an autumnal air to Kent Barns this Saturday, September 12th. Our Farmstand will be in the red barn from 10am to 2pm.
