Anyone else disproportionately grossed out by nightcrawlers after a rain??

I have been pooped on, puked on, bled on by human kids and by animals, helped gut my first deer, had my arm inside the reproductive organs of both goats and pigs, shot predators of my livestock and disposed of them, and have handled the remains of various species of animals in various stages of decomposition.

But seeing these things sucks themselves back into the earth upon contact with light? Nope. Unh unh. Hard pass.

What's your "deal breaker" of grossness?

One of the next generation of Hatfield Farms, doing what needs to be done. Out of view is the rope lasso in his left hand, which was used a couple of days ago (when this photo was taken) to bring a bottle calf back in from the field. It had escaped from its stall in Papa's barn, and #2 helped Papa catch it and secure it in a pen so that it can be fed and cared for.

And the follow-up to the testosterone-fueled gate damage...our replacement gate, complete with not only the cattle panel wire fencing, but also two pallets to hopefully slow down the demise of the gate. 🀞🏼

Huge thanks to the farmer for coming to my rescue when I had to call for back-up because Ryder knocked down the much larger, longer, daisy-chained gates keeping the two outdoor pens separated. Hubby (the farmer) replaced this indoor gate while I stood between the two pens outside. Thank goodness for the kids' pig whips still being left out from the Fair two weeks ago: one of them was enough to keep Ryder (mostly) in line whenever he thought he was going to slip past me to fight our younger buck, War Paint. Despite his super-cool, manly name, he is definitely a lover and not a fighter. πŸ₯΄

Goats. Goats are why we can't have nice things. Specifically, h***y, territorial bucks named Moon Rock Ryder. Photo of the culprit in the comments, because I am not above slut-shaming a goat.
