It’s not just bread. It’s fermentation in action 🤌🏼

That bubbly little jar is where the magic starts. Sourdough’s long fermentation can help break down some of the flour’s phytates, making certain minerals more available.

While also beginning to break down carbohydrates and proteins, which is one reason some people find traditional sourdough easier to digest than conventional bread.

And that beautiful webbing? That’s what a happy, active starter looks like. 😍

Flour + water + time. Simple ingredients doing some incredible things.

You know those warm little French rolls they bring to the table at a restaurant that you absolutely destroy before your food even comes? 😂

Crusty and golden on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, and best served with an unreasonable amount of whipped salted butter. 🤤🥖

Made these from scratch for dinner and I fear the bread basket may never be safe again.

Carrot cake… but make it sourdough. 🥕🍞

Carrot cake swirl sourdough is back 🥕🍞

Last time I made this, I shredded the carrots a little too thick and they created some doughy pockets in the swirl. So this time I went MUCH finer and made the filling with carrots, brown sugar, cinnamon spices, butter, walnuts and a little maple brown sugar oatmeal 👀

They’re proofing overnight and getting baked tomorrow. I should have an extra loaf available, but obviously I gotta cut into mine first for quality control 😂

If the inside looks as good as I’m hoping, somebody can claim the other one!

CARROT CAKE CREAM PIES 🥕

Okay… these might be one of the best things I’ve ever come up with. 😭

Soft, chewy carrot cake cookies loaded with warm spices, walnuts and coconut sandwiched around a thick layer of old-fashioned brown sugar ermine frosting (cooked the traditional way, then whipped with butter until it’s unbelievably light, silky and fluffy.)

Think carrot cake meets an old fashioned cream pie, except somehow even better. 🤤

I got this idea in my head yesterday, did a little digging, started playing with recipes, and ended up in the kitchen past midnight making these because apparently once I have an idea, we’re seeing it through. 😂

And before anybody asks, not a single one is for sale. 😂 This was purely an experiment for my family… but after tasting them, I may have to make a much bigger batch for The Savage Patch in the future. 👀🥕

These are dangerous.
