Over winter break, Emily and I embarked on a very important mission: a doughnut quest. (If you haven’t done this with your kids, add it to your bucket list—it is super fun!)

But somewhere between glaze number two and sprinkle number three, we hit our sugar limit and needed a serious break. That’s when we stumbled upon The Short Line Bakery in Freeville.

I have to be honest - finding good, authentic Italian bread out here has been a challenge. So many loaves look the part but end up tasting like supermarket French bread.

The Short Line was the EXCEPTION.

The flavor was spot on, the crust had that perfect chew, and the crumb was absolutely beautiful. It’s the real deal.

To all my bread-loving friends who are searching for that classic Italian loaf, do yourself a favor and take a short jaunt out to Freeville. You won’t regret it.

Find them on Facebook at The Short Line Bakery
