SOUTH PADRE ISLAND — I went fishing for the first time in my life last weekend on the Island, but this new harvester of the ocean needed energy before I spent all day in the sun, so I went to Padre Island Brewing Co. for a brew and some lunch.

Ogle County resident, Vietnam Veteran, Jimmy Martinaitis. Jim was drafted into the army in 1965 when he was living in Berkeley, Illinois working as a journeyman butcher. In 1966 Jim qualified for jump school and was sent to Fort Benning, Georgia. He completed his 2 years of active duty at Fort Lee, Virginia with the quartermaster division parachute maintenance and air delivery. He always says it was his pleasure to serve in the Army. In having such a unique Lithuanian last name, many from his company have been able to find him and reconnect with him on Facebook.
