'Tis our most bountiful season! Our local farms are delivering the most gorgeous, delicious, nutritious, produce to brighten our produce department every day. Our gal Dottie displays an arm full of some of the latest additions. Big, beautiful, sweet, white fresh (not cured), organic Walla Walla onions from Bear Roots Farm in Williamstown and Middlesex, VT; organic fennel big enough to fan yourself with and spigarello, an Italian heirloom green similar to broccoli raab and a winner in the sauté pan, from Hurricane Flats Farm, SoRo; and so many different kinds of organic peppers from Luna Bleu Farm, SoRo, including poblanos, jalapenos, carmen red, anaheim (a grilling favorite) and green bell. There isn't enough room in this post or in Dottie's basket to mention all the wonderful local (and not) produce overflowing our cooler and shelves. Celebrate the season and relish eating the rainbow!

Our gal Jenny wants you to know that August's member appreciation day (MAD) is tomorrow and we have some great samples lined up! Come in between 4-6 pm for some FREE ICE CREAM from Kiss the Cow Farm in Barnard. Farmer owner Lisa Robar will be serving samples of their strawberry swirl and sultry salty caramel and be happy to talk about what makes Kiss the Cow one of the Co-op's most special local suppliers of milk and ice cream. Our artist this month has lived in Sharon, VT his entire life. Matt Moore says, “I’ve been making art since the sixth grade and have accumulated an abundance of pieces. I mostly work in ink but have started to explore painting. I love expressing my creativity through art. One thing I love about creating is that I can do what I want and not have to follow other people’s “rules or guidelines”. Matt’s art is for sale and it will be sure brighten up your living space! Supporting local artists is a great way to strengthen our local economy and culture. It will also make you feel great!

Our parade debut was was a blast! We dressed up as characters from the Wizard of Oz and got to float around our village giving out awesome items that we carry like pure maple sugar candy donated by Loeffler Homestead in Chelsea, Cabot Creamery cheddar cheese and popcorn and SoRo Market T-shirts. We even won third prize while having so much fun. If you wanted a free 20th Anniversary Co-op T-shirt but didn't get one at the parade, they are on sale in the store for just $5 and our hoodies for just $25. Thank you Samantha Bruce and everyone else who put in countless hours to make Old Home Days a success again this year!

Celebrate our fleeting sunny summer with local flower bouquets from Stitchdown Farm in Bethel! Our gal Brigett is obviously a sunflower lover, so she is in luck! We have more than just sunflowers, though they do compliment Matt Moore's artwork, which is also for sale. Supporting local businesses like Stitchdown strengthens our local economy and saves the environment too due to less trucking miles. Have a beautiful day! 🌻🌼
