QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN
As a contributing member of the Sevillo team, the Food Quality Technician (FQT) assures the quality and safety of food by conducting daily qualitative and quantitative tests, verifying conformance and completing required documentation. Through a hands-on, interactive approach, the FQT is responsible for ensuring and enforcing Sevillo’s quality and food safety standards throughout production.
POSITION RESPONSIBILTIES:
*Acts with integrity, takes ownership of work promoting adherence to Sevillo procedures and practices through self-learning, training, mentoring and demonstration of product knowledge
*Understands and can demonstrate comprehension of Sevillo’s food safety and quality systems
*Ensures compliance in food safety, quality and sanitation processes by monitoring active production lines, engaging the operations team and addressing non-conformance concerns with staff and management in real time
*Line Checks – Conducts preop, operational and post downtime line checks as required, needed and directed by management, through the use of visual observation and ATP swabbing
*Verifies finished product labeling for accuracy
*Verifies ingredients on active lines match respective production formulas for name, part number, description, weight, expiration date verifying usability prior to line start up and throughout the shift
*Is capable of demonstrating knowledge and use of metal detectors
*Reports any food safety or food quality non-conformance to the FSQA manager placing items on hold physically and electronically in SFF’s ERP system so they can undergo evaluation
*Reports any food, human or workplace concerns to their direct supervisor
*Demonstrates understanding of product and process flow as outlined in product specific Hazard Analysis Risk-based, Preventative Control (HARPC) plans
*Physical Chemistry Lab Testing – Conducts pH, salt, acid, water activity, moisture and viscosity tests and analysis of product as required and directed
*Micro Testing Sample Retrieval – Appropriately pulls, stores and readies daily production micro test samples for shipment to 3rdparty labs
*Time & Temperature Monitoring – Verifies product cooking and cooling temperature requirements are being met conducting temperature checks recording and reporting any non-conformance
*Abides by, verifies and enforces staff compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Critical Control Points (CCPs), Preventative Controls (PCs), Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards
*Daily Sensory Evaluation – Participate as a panelist and assist in the daily set-up and break-down
*All other duties as assigned
POSITION QUALIFICATION:
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Fluent in English
Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Preferred:
Bachelor’s or equivalent in food science or related field
Fluent in Spanish
2+ years prior experience as a food quality technician
Experience working with ERP systems
PCQI and HACCP certified

Demonstrates a solid understanding of multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, ratios, units of measure and percent calculation
Accepting of criticism and willing to learn new skills
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and move boxes up to 40 LBS
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
Must be comfortable working in a food manufacturing environment which can include pungent smells from time to time
Must be able to work in cold temperatures for extended periods of time
M-F 12:00 PM-8:00 PM
