π Ever notice that local strawberries don't last as long as the ones from the grocery store?
That's actually part of what makes them so special.
Most grocery store strawberries are picked before they're fully ripe so they can survive harvesting, shipping, warehousing, and time on the shelf.
They're bred to travel.
Local strawberries are picked for flavor.
The tradeoff?
Fully ripe strawberries are more delicate. They bruise more easily and won't sit in your refrigerator for weeks.
But we'd argue that's exactly how nature intended them.
Local strawberries aren't meant to travel across the country. They're meant to be enjoyed fresh, shared with family, and savored while they're in season.
Sometimes the best food doesn't have the longest shelf lifeβit just tastes the best.
π Have you had local strawberries yet this season?
