I’ll be teaching folks how to shuck oysters at North Fork Brewing Co this Friday. Come along and learn or just to hang and drink some fine local brews! Hope to see you there.

Have you tried to open oysters but struggled? Do you want to meet a Long Island oyster farmer? Do you like to eat oysters but you are intimidated by opening them?

Attending New York Sea Grant's Oyster Shucking Workshop can help with this!

A paid registration for this workshop will provide:

• Hands-on training & practice opening (also known as “shucking”) oysters
• 1 dozen oyster to be shucked during the workshop
• An oyster shucking knife & gloves
• An insulated tote bag for transporting local seafood
• An opportunity to meet with an oyster farmer & learn about their farm
• A variety of aquaculture & seafood resources, stickers, & magnets

I’m a post-slacker, been a long time since a post but here’s another gratuitous raw oyster shot before the weekend. Just harvested some of the best Salty Dogs of the season and the stand is stocked. Happy August!

The Salty Dog and Big Dog oyster stand is open for the season! New quantity and pricing cuz, ya know, inflation and all that, so we’re offering bags of 14 for $20. Easier not to worry about making change too! Happy Spring and St Patrick’s Day and Spring Break to all! Enjoy!

We’re headed over to Conscience Point today at noon to rally in support of Conscience Point Shellfish group which is being unjustly booted from their site by the Southampton History Museum who owns the property. This, after more than a decade growing shellfish, donating to the Southampton Trustees, training local students, volunteers and being stewards of North Sea Harbor. Join us if you can.
