It’s spring and almost time to start irrigating our pecan trees! We are starting each irrigation system, ensuring every well and pump is operational, flushing the entire system in each orchard and checking every single sprinkler head. There are usually numerous repairs after the winter, from faulty electrical breakers and solenoids, to clogged sprinklers. In addition, rodents enjoy chewing on tubing and coyotes like to steal the short PVC pipes that hold our flush tubes closed! We’ll have it all ready to go very soon!

Jami, Keith and Bill walked many miles during winter pruning. Our older age classes just needed a little work, removing low limbs and sprouts, while our younger trees were pruned more heavily to improve tree structure.
