Glen Mary Constructed circa 1848 by T.J. Smith. Bought in 1869 by U.S. Glen Mary is open to the public by appointment. Marilyn Meyers is the Executive Director.

General Ethan Allen Hitchcock and his wife, Martha Nicholls, whose descendants lived in the house until the 1970s. Glen Mary is the home base of the charity “Preservation America Foundation,” which owns and operates Glen Mary; the Foundation is dedicated to its restoration and ongoing maintenance, while nurturing diverse community experiences and connections by integrating education, the arts, and

nature. In addition to her significant personal financial support of Glen Mary, Ms. Meyers spends much of her time each year away from her permanent residence in Sharon, Connecticut, to support this mission. The barn at Glen Mary dates to circa 1850. Thanks to a generous donation from Dr. James Cantrell of Athens, Georgia, its rotted out sill and stone foundation were replaced, and drainage around the barn installed, in 2014.
