Road side stand will be open today (Wednesday), tomorrow and Saturday (of Labor Day weekend).

I anticipate sugar in about a week, for those who are waiting and looking.

Two little boys made their debut last night 💙💙

They are both stunning and from amazing milk lines.

The little brown boy is strong and starting to get feisty already. The little black and white boy is still a little shaky and I’m not 100% convinced he is out of the woods in terms of thriving yet.

He’s been getting some supplements and we’ve been helping him eat/feeding him mom’s milk.

As long as he holds out (still looking good at this point)— I’ll have two dashing little boys in need of a new home in about 8 weeks.

The road side stand will not be open regularly until sometime in May— but we plan to have “pop up” openings as spring weather permits.

If this weather forecast holds for the week— the stand will be open 10a-7p this upcoming Saturday!

It’s always a great season when you can pull taps because you make the decision to be “done” rather than the weather deciding for you.

It was a great winter, and great production season.

Done is a relative term.

Now to bottle the hundreds of gallons of syrup we produced this season, and spend some time making all of the other goodies.

If we keep having nice days, we will open the road side stand for business in the near future.

Sap flow is picking up with the warm temps and sunshine today!

Thankfully it’s still slated to get cold overnight the next few nights before freezing back up again.

These cold nights, warmer and sunny days and intermittent freeze ups make for some great sap runs and lots of yummy syrup 😉

The first boil of 2026 is in the books!

We’ve officially got hot, sweet syrup rolling into the buckets.

So far, the weather is looking promising.
We can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has in store.

Lines are (mostly) repaired, the trees are happy (wahoo for a real MI winter) and the sap is flowing.

Because of the size of our system— we need to collect around 800-1000 gallons of sap before we boil for the first time— but with the way sap is running, our first boil could be as early as tonight.

We can’t wait for the sugar shack to smell like sweet maple syrup.

Our project for today included additional line repairs.

Once the trees are tapped and the vac system is up and running, even small line defects become painfully obvious (they are loud, produce funky sap bubbles and drop the pressure on our vac system).

So, chasing leaks it is.

Both Guiles boys are getting pretty handy and more and more independent out in the bush.

It’s a beautiful day to be out in the woods.
