Cycle Farm

Cycle Farm Cycle Farm is a small, diversified mixed vegetable farm, growing for farm share members and weekly farm stand market.

At Cycle Farm, we…
- produce food that is diverse, chemical-free and naturally grown.
- grow for flavor and nutrition, rather than ease of shipping and shelf-life.
- preferentially grow open-pollinated and regional varieties.
- use no-till, full-circle, sustainable farming practices to both build soil and grow food.
- seek methods that limit off-farm inputs, enhance land health, and encourage ecol

ogical diversity.
- work to build community resilience in Spearfish Valley by growing food for our neighbors.
- foster community engagement and education regarding our local food system.

Farm friends! Happy day! While you're zipping about loading up on good green things at the farmstand, swing by Lions Park for the farmers market season opening, Neighbors 2 Neighbors Farmers Market LLC. The markets are back together again! And checkout all the garden things you need at Gage's Gage's Gardens and 's Nursery and Spearfish Greenhouse. The Spearfish Valley springtime stovetop is all a-bubbling.

At the farmstand we have radishes and spring turnips, lettuce, spinach, arugula!, rhubarb, asparagus, and cilantro, green garlic and scallions, and dried herbs and teas - all right from the farm. Thanks for supporting local growers!

The days are getting longer, and yet never quite long enough. Sun shining in all directions: warblers and dandelions and golden beets and lemon ants. And rainbow (rainbow!) chard, and rainbow tatsoy, and rainbow bokchoy. And finding more skulls. And greens going in and greens headed out.

We'll have the farmstand open tomorrow morning (5/9, 9 to noon) with flowers and greens, green garlic & scallions, radishes, et a few al.

Pollinators and plum blossoms, vermicompost and seeds, and a whole crew of second graders who are each so observant and imaginative, watching out for each other and watching out for garter snakes, and full of questions, and equally, perhaps moreso, full of answers. Such warm thanks to Ms Danette for coordinating all the pieces, facilitating the learning and exploring and fun, and letting us tag along. Thanks to Ms. Hoff and her class for coming out to visit. And special thanks to BHFCU for helping support this field trip!

Farm friends! Flower lovers, florists, designers, son and daughters, all the kids! Hooray, huraah!

April flowers bring May... ?
Guess what's ahead of schedule?!

We have buckets, barrels, pools of flowers - they are weeks ahead of expected schedule (wonky spring, a zippy rollercoaster, no dramamine, no gingerchews, nearly 90 yesterday, snow tonight, holdtight). You don't have to wait until mother's day. Tell mum you love her now.

All this being said: another flower market!! This Saturday, 1 to 4, at the farmstand. Looks to be a balmy afternoon ;) and we can't wait to see you! If you can't make it on Sat, reach out - we'll connect and get you the blooms.

Spring is happening - quick, quick!
First turkey vulture flew over this week, crocuses were here for a breath, and now gone, grafted fruit tree bebes transplanted from the nursery to their forever homes, peartree just setting blossoms, garlic are up-up-UP, rhubarb emerging all bleary-eyed and pillow-wrinkled, already seeing butterflies, lacewings, and the first bumblebee queen, the soil blocker is hot.

Spring! We have a few shares still available for our 2026 growing season - let us know if you are interested!

What is a farm share?
A farm share is a prepaid market-style CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), which allows for more flexible pick-up and vegetable selection than traditional CSA structures. From April through October, you can pick up seasonal produce as well as fresh flower bouquets directly from our farm using the funds you’ve invested at the start of the season. Each week, throughout the season you also receive an email newsletter with updates from the farm, recipe ideas, and special invitations to farm events.

Why a farm share?
Eat with the seasons, reduce your carbon foot print by sourcing locally grown foods, get to know your farmers, the farm and how your food is grown, enjoy amazing freshness and nutrition, and help us cover costs for seeds, supplies and equipment, irrigation repairs, etc. during this expense-heavy time of year.

As a thank you for your support, for each share we offer, we include an additional 5% that can either be added to your credit or redirected towards food access and food sovereignty work in our local community. Through these funds, we’ve been able to made contributions to the Spearfish Community Food Pantry, Artemis House, Wotakuye Mutual Aid, the Sicangu Food Sovereignty Program, and the COUP Council.

For more details about our farm share program or to register for a Cycle Farm farm share, please visit our website, cyclefarm.net, or give us a call.
Thanks for your support, friends - with sunshine on cotyledons, Jeremy and Trish
