Twiggity Farm

Twiggity Farm We no longer have dairy goats We raise small breed goats intended for home dairy production. The Nigerian Dwarf produces exceptionally creamy and rich milk.

We have standard LaManchas and Nubians that we cross with Nigerian Dwarf bucks to create smaller yet productive minis that are registered with the Miniature Dairy Goat Association. We also raise a few Nigerian Dwarf kids every year and we strive to produce kids that will make great little milkers. Our Nigerians are registered with ADGA. We milk all of our goats and our herd is disease tested annually.

I wanted to announce that Rachel kidded in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. It was an odd progressing birth from the beginning of labor. She managed to deliver a healthy doe kid at 1:15 am. I knew she was carrying multiples but nearly 4 hours passed with no signs of another kid. I went to bed and woke to the sounds of a baby on the monitor. I ran to the barn and found another wet doe kid. Brought her in the house for warming and drying. Rachel didn't exhibit the usual signs of a completed kidding so something kept niggling at my brain that something was wrong. I called the vet 24 hours after the last kid and she suspected a third stuck kid. Ultrasound confirmed it and a deceased kid was delivered by c-section yesterday. So far all seems okay and we have two adorable little doe kids.

Hard to believe but our two mini Nubian does are due in less than two weeks. Can't wait to see what kids we have. We have possibilities for moon spotted, blue-eyes and polled or all three combined. Rachel as usual is likely to have at least three judging by her appearance and her daughter Binky will likely have one or two.

I wanted to mention that Rachel, who is due to kid in January, is still in milk after 16 months and is milking a quart once daily while still nursing her "baby" who is also due in January. The kids will be potentially good milkers. Picture shows udder at 16 months fresh.
