#612 had a chilly race weekend in Shakopee this past weekend!

Just as we were walking out the door Thursday - his new jersey arrived!!

Riding in Sport class this year has brought on some new challenges but Isaac is getting goals and checking them off. In all the years Isaac has been racing (12 years to be exact) the starting line has never been Isaacs place to shine. He continues to work on them we have started to seem some improvements. Passing and working his way around the other racers on the track is definitely Isaac’s strength. It’s so fun to watch him pick lines and be able to make safe passes as he works his way up to the front of the pack.

One goal this year is to make the finals without having to do the LCQ and finish the finals in the top 10 - then the top 7!

This goal was met Saturday but some bad luck on round 1 on Friday - including a berm, mini ice berg, a banner and metal poles - sent him into the LCQ Friday.

He finished middle of the pack on both finals - definitely not the place where Isaac wants to be, but with this being his first year in the Sport class, it’s a great start to the season!!

He had some extra fans in his cheering section as some friends from Forest Lake came to watch Friday and Saturday. Always a spirit lifter to see some friendly faces!!

In a couple weeks the boys will head to Deadwood for another race weekend!

A new race season calls for new sleds and new wraps!

Due to a rule change - Isaac will be bumping up to the Sport class for the ‘23/24 season!

The season kick-off is in Ironwood Michigan this Friday and Saturday!

We’ve added a new sponsor and are so lucky to have our returning ones who support Isaac and Peterson Family Racing!

Shawn and Isaac have been spending the last 4 weekends up in Aurora practicing so Isaac is feeling prepared and ready to rock the track!

They’ve been spending countless hours in the garage fine-tuning and getting sleds race ready!

First time for #612 racing on the ski hill at Cannonsburg, MI. Two completely different race days…Friday was clear and a little breezy but Saturday it was pouring rain and sleeting the majority of the morning and mist turn to snow by night! Isaac struggled with hole-shots all weekend which didn’t give him the best finishing results! He was able to find some spots to pass on the track which was pretty tough!

Friday in 14/15 he raced hard to the end but one spot short of a podium finishing in 4th in the final. He was racing hard in 3rd for a sport-lite podium but he came up short on a triple on the downhill and came off his sled. He was able to hop back on and came across in 6th. He made a quick trip to mobile medical to get a cut on his chin cleaned and glued back up.

Despite the rain, soaking wet from head to toe and poor visibility, he was able to snag a 3rd place podium in 14/15 on Saturday. For sport-lite, a blown reed caused a last place finish in heat one which landed Iz in the LCQ. He qualified 14th in the final but was able to race how was up a 5th place finish!

Overall, a successful weekend with some goals for the upcoming finale weekend in Dubuque, IA which is next Saturday and Sunday!

Another 3 podium weekend for Isaac!!
He’s been so consistent so far this race season with getting 3 out of4 podiums. 3 weekends left for racing to try and reach his goal of a 4 podium weekend!!

This weekend we were in Brandon,SD - so fun to race so close to where Shawn and I grew up - lots of visitors and family came to cheer on Iz!

Finals:
14/15 (Friday) 2nd
Sport-lite (Friday) 3rd
14/15 (Saturday) 2nd
Sport-Lite (Saturday) 11th - was in the 3rd spot, came up to a corner with too much speed and not enough brake and he ended up off the track - was able to get back on but lost a lot of time!

Next Stop: Elk River - ERX!!

The forecast shows temps in the 30’s - so stop on by and watch some racing!! It’s always more fun in person - the trailer is heated and the drinks are cold!!!

Isaac had podium finishes in 3 out of the 4 finals! The highlight of the weekend was his hole-shot and leading the whole race in his Sport-Lite final on Friday night! He had the lead and never looked back! He’s had his eye on the gold for SL and finally was able to snag it!

A successful weekend all around - Isaac’s a little sore from the incident in the Sport-Lite final Saturday. We now have about 3 weeks off so Iz will head back to gym for training and will have a visit with his chiropractor!

In 3 weekends New York is the next destination - but just for Shawn and Isaac. Zoe will have her last gymnastics competition in WI on that same weekend!

Peterson Family Racing headed to Canterbury Park in Shakopee this weekend for rounds 3 and 4 of the ISOC National Series!

Isaac was able to podium 3 out of 4 races! With a smaller track he had his work cut out for him working his way through lapped traffic! He struggled with the hole-shot on Saturday but his mechanic (dad) was able to work some clutching magic and Isaac had better hole-shot results as the weekend went on!

It’s hard to put into words how incredibly proud we are of Isaac! He puts 110% on the track and is working hard practicing and training afterschool and weekends when he isn’t racing!

We sure have been missing Isaac’s number one fan, Grandpa David, who always made it his priority to come and cheer on Isaac (and Zoe) with their favorite frozen pizza and candy stuffed in his pockets! We know he is watching over Iz and keeping him safe on the track!

Liz and Zoe head to Phoenix, AZ next weekend for a gymnastics competition - so send her some positive vibes!! While Zoe isn’t racing anymore she is keeping busy with competitive gymnastics and still loves coming to watch and cheer on her friends and of course her brother!

Unsure where next weekend will bring Iz and Shawn - maybe practice or a regional race ?!

Find the 4 of us in Deadwood, SD at the end of the month for rounds 5 and 6!!
