The only place to find this custom blend is by staying at Bottle Bay Resort! I think it’s pretty dang cool that Lakeside Coffee is in each room at a lakeside resort, but I might be a wee bit biased here.

Unexpected interaction turned epically cool while stocking coffee at Yokes this morning! A lady asked me a question about a different brand of coffee assuming I was a Yokes employee, but once she understood that I was just a vendor her questions became almost bizarrely detailed. She got extremely excited after discovering that we roast locally using a Dietrich Roaster.

She shook my hand and introduced herself as Mrs. Dietrich. As I explained the details of our specific roaster and that it was a prototype that was never marketed, I pulled up our website to show her a picture. It totally made her day when she figured out exactly which roaster it was “Oh! That’s the IR 3 Floor Model!!” It is the one and only with this exact design, which she was involved in developing.

The Dietrich family sold their roaster manufacturing business 13 years ago which is why no one there believes this model exists. To see the joy on her face in discovering this roaster is still in use and when she realized that this is the same Lakeside Coffee who originally acquired said roaster, was truly priceless!

Modern Dietrich Coffee Roasters are computer driven, but these old school roasters are created to last a lifetime with very few things that can fail. She was thrilled to see it’s still steady and reliable as always, and I was ecstatic to have historical confirmation of our reality! (As well as a new customer 😉)
