We’re getting ready for SRHD’s (Spokane Regional Health District) free community baby shower on Thursday October 30th 2025, from 1-3 pm this year at the YMCA in Spokane Valley (2421 N Discovery Place, Spokane Valley, WA 99216 ).

Please join us in spreading the word among expectant and new parents in our community..

This year, with support from our sponsors, SRHD is providing 60 gift bags full of health and safety products for participants, and 30 raffle bundles. At the event, we’ll have educational games, celebratory cake, snacks, and more. The YMCA can provide free on-site childcare to participants during the event from 1-3 pm. The Molina Mobile clinic will be on-site in the parking lot so babies and other kiddos who are Molina members can get caught up on well-child visits, and current and expectant parents who are Molina members can complete prenatal and postpartum check-ups or receive other basic health care services and referrals.

There are options nearby for families who want to plan activities before or after the community baby shower. The Spokane Valley YMCA branch is located right next to Mirabeau Park and the Akin Family Resource Center, and there are wonderful things to explore and play with at the YMCA branch as well.

Please reach out to Mia Parker at [email protected] with any questions.

Calling all Washingtonians: The Recovery Navigator Program (RNP) is on the chopping block—and we cannot let that happen.

The RNP is one of the only state-funded, non-clinical recovery programs in Washington. It provides critical outreach, care coordination, and connection to services for people impacted by substance use disorder—especially those who’ve cycled through the criminal legal system, emergency rooms, or are on the brink of crisis.

Let’s be clear: Eliminating the Recovery Navigator Program would be a devastating step backwards.

This program reduces recidivism, decreases emergency service use, reconnects people with families, and helps them re-enter the workforce. RNP teams are staffed by people with lived experience—people who know how to build trust, navigate complexity, and walk with others toward recovery.

We’re not talking about a nice-to-have. We’re talking about a lifeline.

A vote in the Senate is imminent. If recovery matters to you—if you believe people deserve real second chances—this is the moment to act.

Contact your Washington State Senator now. Tell them to protect the Recovery Navigator Program. Tell them that recovery is real—and it needs real support.

First, even though you can’t see it now, your loved one’s behaviors make sense in some way. People use substances because they get something out of it that’s important to them. It’s not because they’re “crazy” or “bad”—it’s because the behavior is serving a purpose. That is what keeps them going back, even as the costs pile up. While you don’t have to agree with or like their reasons for using, understanding those reasons will help you be more effective in helping promote change.

Hey this link that I am sending you is about a listening session that you can voice your own concerns about Eastern Washington State drug, and mental health services, or lack of.
It is free.
It is also a virtual event and you can just listen, or voice your concerns.
It is rather important to the fight of improving services in Eastern Washington for drug rehabilitation and mental health services.

The Washington Recovery Alliance (WRA) in partnership with our recovery coalitions is hosting a 2-hour virtual listening session for our recovery communities in Eastern Washington (located East of the Cascade Range). This listening session will be open to anyone in our recovery community who lives o...
