I wanted to speak at length about
The happiness of my body and the
Delight of my mind for it was
April, a night, a full moon and-

But something in myself for maybe
From somewhere other said: not too
Many words, please, in the muddy shallows the

Frogs are singing.

The gods had a picnic supper to-night
Sitting around a blazing fire—
I saw the smoke and rosy flame
Over in the west.
I wanted to watch them, but as I went nearer
They let the fire go out.

"To live in this world
you must be able to do three things:
to love what is mortal;
to hold it
against your bones knowing
your own life depends on it;
and, when the time comes to let it go,
to let it go."
-Mary Oliver
