Okay, THIS is what fall is supposed to taste like. 🍂🥣

Our deli is serving up Pumpkin & Sausage Soup, and it’s everything you want on a crisp October day: creamy pumpkin, savory sausage and all those warm, cozy flavors that make soup season one of the very best seasons.

And yes, it really does look this good. This photo was taken right here at Main Market by our deli manager. No stock photos or fancy food styling required. 😊

Another employee shout-out! Meet Spencer, the guy in charge of our BEAUTIFUL produce section!

His coworker says: Spencer is a hardworking co-op employee who brings a positive attitude and great energy every day. He’s always ready to lend a hand wherever it’s needed, and we’re lucky to have him here at the coop.

Today, on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the Indigenous peoples who have cared for these lands since time immemorial and whose cultures, communities and traditions continue to shape our region today.

Here in Spokane, we recognize that Main Market Co-op operates on the traditional homelands of the Spokane Tribe of Indians. We offer that acknowledgment with respect, and with the understanding that recognizing whose land we are on should be more than something we say once a year.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day is an opportunity to listen, to learn, and to recognize both the history and the living presence of Indigenous people and Tribal Nations. It is also a reminder that the histories many of us were taught were incomplete and some just plain wrong, and that learning more begins with listening to Indigenous people tell their own stories.

Today we honor the Spokane people and Indigenous communities throughout our region, past, present and future.

Today is World Mental Health Day.

At Main Market, we talk a lot about nourishing our community, and we know that nourishment means more than what’s on our plates. Our mental and emotional well-being matter, too.

Mental health looks different for everyone. Sometimes taking care of ourselves means asking for help. Sometimes it means checking in with someone we love, getting outside, making a good meal, finding a little quiet, or simply admitting that today is a hard day.

As a co-op, we believe strong communities are built when people look out for one another. So this World Mental Health Day, we hope you’ll take a moment to check in with yourself and with the people around you.

You don’t have to have the perfect words. Sometimes, “How are you really doing?” is a pretty good place to start. 💚

Employee Appreciation Post: Meet Alison! 💚

If you’ve spent much time at Main Market, chances are you’ve seen Alison doing a little bit of everything. And probably doing it with a smile. Or, apparently, a donut. 🍩

Alison is one of those people who makes a team better simply by being part of it. She shows up with a great attitude, jumps in wherever she’s needed, is always willing to learn something new, and is just as willing to turn around and teach someone else what she knows.

Need an extra hand? Alison’s there.
Have a question? She’ll help figure it out.
Need someone to pose with coconut milk in front of a giant chicken? Also Alison. 😂

She’s dependable, curious, kind, hardworking, and genuinely fun to have around. Those are the people who make a co-op like ours work, and we’re incredibly lucky to have her.
