We really love Spokane.
Not in the polished, postcard kind of way. We love the Spokane that shows up.
The neighbors who check on each other. The people who bring what they have when someone else needs it. The small businesses that find ways to help. The farmers and producers who feed this region. The volunteers who give their time. The people who see a need and start figuring out what they can do about it.
Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen so much of that.
This community has been through a lot, and there are people who will be dealing with the effects of these fires long after they disappear from our newsfeeds. But alongside all of that loss, we’ve also watched Spokane do what Spokane does remarkably well: show up for one another.
Main Market Co-op has been part of this community for more than 15 years. We’ve watched downtown change. We’ve watched local businesses come and go. We’ve built relationships with farmers, producers, neighbors, member-owners and customers who have become part of the fabric of this place.
And through all of it, we’ve remained incredibly proud to call Spokane home.
A co-op is, at its heart, about community. About recognizing that we are connected to one another and that what happens to our neighbors matters to us, too.
So this isn’t really a post about groceries.
It’s just a little love letter to Spokane.
