New Leaf Cafe at the Central Library location will be closed today, along with the library itself, in observance of Juneteenth.

Our YWCA location will be open from 8am-2pm.

Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865, the day enslaved people in Galveston, Texas were finally informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It is a day of joy, remembrance, education, and community.

We are excited to honor the recent accomplishment of two participants who have successfully graduated from our program! Their dedication, perseverance, and hard work are an inspiration to us all, and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievements.
At the same time, we are thrilled to welcome two bright new participants who have joined our community. Their energy, ideas, and enthusiasm are already making a positive impact, and we can’t wait to see them continue to learn and grow in our program.
This exciting moment is a testament to the spirit of our program—celebrating accomplishments while embracing growth and new perspectives. Join us in congratulating our graduates and welcoming our newest members!

Move over, latte artists—there’s a new style in town 👩‍🎨☕
Jayla is graduating next week, and she’s already bringing her signature flair to the coffee world with this one-of-a-kind stick figure design (we’re calling it “minimalist chic”).
With her mom opening a coffee shop and Jayla stepping into her next chapter, we’d say the future is looking extra bold and beautifully brewed.
