The one month a year I have porch decorations. Spook has already eaten two pumpkins and the kids destroyed a third 😅 but we will feed the rest to the pigs next week, tie some corn stalks to the porch posts, and call it good til December. 🌽 🎃 🍂 🐈‍⬛

If you saw my stories, you saw that a neighbor brought a newborn calf in trouble to our home and asked if we could save it. He’s a knowledgeable guy and good steward but is elderly and couldn’t physically bottle feed it.

Flash back to several months ago. April slipped her calf and went into milk months too early. We saved all her colostrum. For… what? We had no calf. But we saved it.
For this day! The day that one of our own community came to us for help and WOW we actually had something to offer! The joy of having prepared for a moment that actually came (even if the circumstances are hard) is something I will cherish.
