This is the smallest lamb Gratitude Acres ever had!!
Good Stuff- a purebred Valais- unbeknownst to us got herself pregnant at 9 months old! I stay away from breeding if pregnancy has to be endured during the heat of our summer. I keep the mamas shorn- not in show fleece! In spite of her suboptimal conditions- mama too young- weather too hot- yesterday we welcomed little Hot Stuff! 4.4 lbs of determined to live tiny and adorable ewe lamb!
“Goodie” loves her lamb but kicks her off when she tries finding the ni**le- lamb has not (yet) understood the concept of nursing, mostly pushes and then stands there but she takes a bottle and we milk what little mom provides. And Hot Stuff lives up to her name- she’s got s***k!! And she is thankfully gaining weight appropriately. The miracle of life is amazing!
