Our motive is to help educate on the best welfare for poultry and livestock, & offer guidance whenever needed.
Our breeding goals for our silkies/ showgirls is to create fun ‘not your average’ fancy project colors. This means we do not breed towards “show quality color” for our main Rainbow silkie color pen, but our breeding stock does come from multiple show quality lines. We reference the breeds SOP to the best of our abilities while developing fancy colors (i.e, dark skin, body type). Straight combs are recessive and can pop up even in the best show quality bloodlines. There can also be lighter skin depending on what generation a color project is at.
White
Chocolate
Our Rainbow Silkies are not separated by color in pens, but they are separated in their own fenced off free range part of the property to insure they still are “pure silkie” and not crossbred with our other breeds.
Its always a fun adventure to see how much a chicks color changes as it matures! Join us on our journey, with a uniquely colored silkie of your own from our TBHH lines!

(( disclaimer: The Banty Hen Homestead is a hobby farm, we do not make a profit from rehoming birds, and all proceeds go right back into the flocks care. All poultry is monitored while under our supervision to be heathy and thriving at all times. Once poultry leaves our care, we are no longer responsible for injuries or exposure of illness. This being said, please reach out to us as soon as you may be noticing an issue with a chick and we can go from there. Thank you! ))
Raising chickens can be unpredictable since they are animals, we can not control what happens once they leave our property, but I do make sure they are thriving before they go.
If you ever notice a chick acting a little off (slow, lethargic, peeping a lot, not active, etc.) you MUST take action fast! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me as soon as you may need help with a chick! I'm here to help!
We let our flocks free range in our yard, therefore we refrain from allowing visitors on the property. This helps prevent the possible introduction and spread of disease-causing organisms/ microorganisms from contaminating our flocks established immune system.
We will arrange a local location to meet for the specified poultry. If a pick-up were to be made at the property, guest are to park at our front gate, then the birds to choose from would be Brought to you, and sanitizing measures would then be implemented.
To ensure we follow safe biosecurity practices ourselves, we have dedicated shoes that are only worn when caring for our flock and additional sanitizing procedures in place.
