Moles use tunnels to travel, what you see below is a diagram of their tunnel system, a visible feeding trail ( Cracked soil in a trail form is the best indicator there are present Moles ). Trails are more than just underground buffets!

Moles dig special chambers at the end of tunnels that serve as bedrooms and birthing areas. Sometimes moles will live in a series of tunnels for generations before moving.

Moles have kitchens, as well, in tunnel chambers. They eat mostly earthworms, and keep them alive and immobile by biting their heads, and then store them in the chamber. As many as 470 worms have been recorded in one chamber, according to the Mammal Society.

Every job needs a specific game plan. In this circumstance, our main goal is to protect the horses ! When you have a Pocket-Gopher infestation, it’s likely you will find unfinished tunnels, resulting in an open hole in the ground, especially in a deep tunnel system, or they can even be tunneling too close to the surface, where tunnels can easily cave in if stepped on! In rural areas with active Gophers nearby, they tend to hit you from all angles, kind of like a planned invasion! This specific ranch has had reoccurring activity for two years now. Fortunately we are on call to solve any issue these underground rodents may cause you. This ranch is for horses only, on the other hand it’s a perfect playground for Pocket Gophers as well. Well it’s a sad day for Mr. Moley Man, as he is being es**rted off the premises. A playground is no place for a Mole, and the last thing we want is a twisted ankle ! Moles naturally aerate the soil, which is great! Except when they don’t keep it moving, which often leads to a Mole infestation. With the capability of each mole digging 100 feet per day, erosion tends to occur, causing the soil to settle, in yet an unsettling way. On a property where children are running around, it is best to treat, remove, and prevent any Mole from having a field day on your flat surface!

Let’s talk about the environmental purposes for these underground diggers. Despite the negative and costly effects they may have on a Humans property, Moles and Gophers play an important role of the overall ecosystem! They increase soil fertility by mixing plant material and f***l wastes into the soil. Their burrowing aerates the soil and decreases its compaction, allowing air and water to reach the root systems successfully. They can help speed up the formation of new soil by bringing minerals to the surface as well! Living in your backyard wasn’t part of the equation, these natural diggers often find themselves a sustained food source in a single lawn, which can lead to a list of problems, that don’t necessarily align with their natural purpose! Thus putting them in the category of ‘Nuisance Wildlife’

Getting rid of moles is an undertaking that involves identifying active tunnels and setting traps. While this might sound easy, several factors make it more difficult. You’ll see tunnels that are close to the surface, but the moles also spend much of their time digging deeper. The animals themselves are challenging to find since they rarely venture out of their tunnel systems.

Mole extermination isn’t usually a DIY project—save yourself the headache and call in the pros. Even for us, a full eradication may take persistence. It involves monitoring the moles’ activity, coming up with a custom game plan, finding the tunnels currently being used, and setting traps appropriately.

Don’t bother with over the counter mole-control methods or products; they rarely deliver the promised result. High frequencies emitted from certain devices won’t chase them away, mole-repellents applied to lawns are ineffective since moles live underground, and targeting the moles’ food sources with insecticides does more harm than good.

Cracked soil, raised trails, dead grass / vegetation, soft spots, and dirt mounds, are some visible signs of Mole activity. Unfortunately when a mole infestation occurs, there’s multiple moles! We had to es**rt this last individual off the premises. Now it’s time to bring our customers lawn back to life !
