What a tremendous season you gave us! Sitting down to write this, we’re humbled by the blessings you’ve heaped on our family. Here are a few that come to mind:
🍎Hidden Gem opening their barn for us without hesitation on a rainy day
🍎TSC and the Chamberlain family who have opened their parking lot to welcome us the last few years
🍎Allie Olsen, Jamie Newton, and Karen Bain who got so many orders from their friends that their vehicles couldn’t hold them (If you picked up in Athens, Brentwood, or Goodlettesville, these are your heroes! We started selling there because of them!)
🍎Every one of you who shared an apple with a friend and then sent them to us for more
🍎The energetic reviews we found posted all over facebook. They worked! We met a lot of new people this year and many of them came because of your enthusiastic insistence.
🍎You’re the BEST! You texted, emailed, messaged, and spoke so many encouraging words over Ron and the fruits of his labor this year. You have no idea how much it is appreciated!
We are currently out of apples, but have good news: if you have run out of apples already Hidden Gem Farmers Market has your back! They have a limited supply of Otto Peterson Farms Honeycrisp that they will be selling at their Saturday Markets (starting today at 11!) while supplies last. If you haven’t been to Hidden Gem Farmers Market this is a great time to check them out! Thanks again for the great season! See you next year, if the Lord wills.

You all deserve a gold star for growing our business so much this year. ⭐Last week was the busiest we’ve had yet and almost every new customer was sent our way by one of you. We brought 28 boxes of apples to TN a week ago, today we’re down to 7. We still have plenty to cover our pre-orders and extra available for walkup customers. Keep sending friends, neighbors, coworkers, hairdressers, and random strangers our way. We will post on here if we are running low on extra. We also have plenty of seconds (blemished apples great for baking or cooking) available for a discount.

Here is our weekend schedule:
🍎Friday, 10/31 Murfreesboro at 2075 Old Fort Parkway 11-3pm
🍏Saturday, 11/1 Thompson’s Station at Tractor Supply for pre-orders and walk ups 10-5pm AND in Spring Hill at Hidden Gem Farmers Market selling apple nachos 11-2pm
🍎Sunday 11/2 Franklin at Moody’s Tires (1600 Columbia Ave) 2-5pm

We also want to thank all of you for jumping in this year and bagging your apples alongside us. We have enjoyed getting to know so many of you better as we fill bags and chat. Some have asked why we are moving to this style of pick up and the answer is simply we can’t keep up with bagging everyone’s orders anymore. On Friday alone, over 100 bushels of apples were bagged and the 4 of us could never have done that alone. Don’t worry though, if you are in a hurry, are physically unable to bag or have a large order, we will gladly help you get your apples bagged and to your car. 🍎

For those interested in our farm: For the last few seasons Otto Peterson Farms has been trialing a new-to-us farming method known as regenerative farming. Regenerative farming focuses on soil health because healthy soil means healthy trees, and healthy trees are better able to withstand pests and sickness on their own. Regenerative farms reduce or eliminate synthetic pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers and employ leaf tissue testing to find nutrient gaps which they treat naturally. In just two years, Otto Peterson Farms has reduced herbicide usage in our orchards between 75-100% (depending on the location), planted a pollinator habitat that will attract natural predators to our orchards and introduced measures to naturally disrupt the reproductive cycles of some of our top pests. We look forward to more progress over the next few years, and are encouraged by farms near ours taking these same steps successfully. We're always seeking to be the best stewards we can of this land with which God has blessed us.

🍏Athens- Wed, Oct 29 (22335 US 72) 4 pm-5pm
🍎Murfreesboro- Fri, Oct 31 (2075 Old Fort Pkwy) 11am-2pm
🍏Sun- Nov 2- TBD (really hoping for a Franklin location)

If you read our FAQ post last year (or any of the 7 previous years), you’re a pro and can just skip the rest of this post, but if you’re new to the world of farm fresh apples, this information might come in handy (because, let's be honest, who actually uses a peck measurement in his or her daily life?).
🍏Q. What are a Peck and a Bushel? How much do they weigh? How many apples will I get in my order?
🍎A. Peck and Bushel are measurements of VOLUME, not weight, but we can estimate weight.
- A Peck is approximately 10-12 lbs
- A Half Bushel is two pecks and is approximately 20-24lbs.
- A Bushel will weigh between 40 & 50lbs.
It is impossible to predict numbers of apples accurately because apple size will cause this to vary greatly.
🍏Q. How long will these apples last?
🍎A. At room temperature: 1-2 weeks
In a cool dark place like a cellar: 1-2 months
In the fridge: 3-4 months for snacking and 6 months + for use in baking.
🍏Q. Do I pay when I place my order?
🍎A. No. Payment is due at the time of pick-up. Your pre-order guarantees that we will reserve apples for you in case we get low on apples for walk-ups. We accept cash or Venmo payments.
🍏Q. What if something comes up and I can’t get my apples?
🍎A. If you no longer want your apples or cannot get them after ordering please notify us so that we can cancel your order and sell them to someone else.
Do you still have questions? Please let us know in a personal message or in a comment on this post.

Wow! Another sold out year is in the books! 🥳
Thanks to everyone who stopped by, purchased apples and/or who shared apples with friends and neighbors. A HUGE shout out to Tristan who worked our busiest days with us (and to his sweet family who let us borrow him). And most of all we are thankful to the LORD for the abundant harvest, beautiful weather and safe travels. We are blessed! 🍎
We are always trying to improve our process and would love feedback from you: what did you like or dislike this year? Comment below, send us a PM, or text us if you have thoughts to share.
We love hearing about and seeing pictures of the yummy treats you have been making with our apples. 🥧🍯 Drop a comment or picture below to let us know how you have been using your apples! A few customers sell the goods that they make and we’re sharing their contact info below. Check them out if you’re interested in more ways to eat Honeycrisp. We missed some of you so please share what you make in the comments or send links via PM.
🍎Our long time customer, Nikki Johnson of Lot 60 Goods (https://www.facebook.com/Lot60Goods), makes freeze dried apples in 2 flavors. Fresh Honeycrisp apples are delicious freeze dried!
🍎🍯Kathy Weaver of Sugar Mama (https://www.facebook.com/sugarmamashomemadeeverything?mibextid=ZbWKwL ) sells apple butter and a decadent looking caramel apple jam that has our mouths watering.

Praying that you have a blessed year and we’re looking forward to seeing you all again in 2025, Lord willing!🍎🥳🍎

We have plenty of extra 🍎 and 🍁syrup left for anyone who needs a restock or who missed our other sale days. This has been a fun week and we have loved seeing so many familiar faces as well as a lot of new faces. Thanks for spreading the word about our apples and sharing your apples with others. We don’t like to brag, but we have the best customers!

Happy Thursday! We are excited to (belatedly) announce that Sonya Bolt Oliver is our second peck winner for 2024!! Congratulations Sonya!

Can you believe it is October already?! Only a couple of weeks left until fresh Honeycrisp arrive in Middle TN. If you have been waiting to order please get that order in ASAP to ensure that we bring enough.
It's been a few years since we shared the story of our farm so we thought we'd share it again as told by Ron, our current farmer:
Seven generations of Petersons have known that the combination of perfect cool northern weather and Michigan's rich black soil result in the most delicious apples known to man and womankind (This statement is verified by all 13 members of the 7th generation old enough to consume apples so you can trust us on this 😉).
In 1862 Carl Gustaf Pettersson of Sweden boarded a ship to America, eventually arriving in Michigan where he changed his name to Charles Peterson. After working for a year in local sawmills, he earned enough money to send for his wife and children. In 1877 Charles purchased 40-acres near Ludington, cleared the land, and planted 100-apple trees.
I (Ron) helped care for those trees when I was about 12-years old . They were nearly 100 years old at the time and huge. The site of those original apple trees is now one of the honeycrisp orchards that my siblings and I planted. We (5th generation) have cared for this God blessed land for the past 20-years since we inherited it from our father, Otto Peterson, who inherited part of his father’s farm and on back to our Great-great grandfather Charles. Our grandchildren are the 7th generation of Petersons picking apples on this land. Otto Peterson farms is currently over 100 acres divided between tart cherries, a few sweet cherries and apples.”
