Hummer and the baby goats had a visit with the Vet this morning. Hummer is limping on his front leg and the goats needed vaccines. They both received good reports. Nothing was found with Hummer's leg. He may have gotten kicked by another animal and could be sore from it. He is currently being given pain medication to make him more comfortable. Several people have asked in the past week why he is limping. So I wanted to report he is fine and nothing obvious wrong with him. It may be bruised or sore. It hasn't slowed him down one bit. He was a very well behaved boy at the vet. I have to give a shout out to Tennsouth Vet in Lewisburg. I've been with them for years now and I've always received nothing but the best of care from them. I wouldn't take my babies anywhere else.

If your looking to book a petting zoo event for November or December, I still have dates available. I urge you to not sit on it and wait until the month of. My calendar is filling up fast and I'm adding events to my calendar daily. That is a very busy time of year and it books very quickly.

I haven't introduced my new babies. The white one is a boy. His name is McLovin. The orange one is a girl. Her name is Poppy. They are twins and 4 weeks old. They are Nigerian Dwarf goats. They are oh so sweet and cuddly. They are currently being bottle fed. I've been asked what the silver spots on their heads are. They were disbudded a couple of weeks ago. No it isn't cruel. I have the procedure done at a Vet clinic by a veterinarian. They are given pain medication. This procedure keeps their horns from growing in. It's a safety precaution for me. Goats play by butting their heads together. I don't want a child poked with a horn and injured. It also keeps them from getting their head stuck in a fence. So all my goats are disbudded. They will heal and you will never know anything was done. They are not in pain. I've been asked quite a bit and wanted to address it so people know. If you have a party booked with me, you will get to meet these sweet babies. I promise you will fall in love with them.

October is a very busy month for petting zoo events. I don't have a ton of availability left for weekends during the day. I do have openings for evening parties like 6pm or 7pm. I realize people think they need daylight for the party. Evening parties are actually a lot of fun. I bring lights and you can still see and pet the animals. You can do strobe lights, string lights, music, or any other decor. My animals are not scared of decor or flashing lights. They are pretty calm. They aren't scared of music or loud noises. They are used to it. My suggestion for a night party would be to decorate with lights and have hay bales for seating and a bonfire. Your guests can roast marshmallows and hotdogs. Your guests can dress up in costumes if you wanted a costume party. A nighttime party can be a lot of fun.
