Five years! For five years we have been “officially” sharing our tasty beef with family, friends, and complete strangers! We thank you for supporting local farmers, there is a ripple effect that can be felt within our small communities.

We can’t believe how tiny our babies were five years ago - the days are long but the years are short!

Are you wondering who is the small farm family behind Root River Meats? We’re Julie and Kevin, Lakin, Macen and Nayli. The “Tart Farms” family behind Root River Meats.

This is not the first time we have sold beef but this crazy year made us look at life a little differently....and probably you as well. We started receiving more requests from our family and friends to order bulk meat direct from our farm. Seriously, how cool is that?!

So here we go. A new venture offering the highest quality pasture raised beef coming directly from us. A local farm family located in the Root River Valley of SE MN.

Raised by us. Fed by us. Ready for you. From us!

Once again, we’d like to say thank you to all who ordered the past few months...and to everyone who liked and shared our new page (200+ likes in 2 days, wow!). Just goes to show how much support there is for local farm families.

Neither do I, but I should keep track some year because the answer would probably be shocking! 🥪 They are mass produced and nothing fancy, but they get everyone thru the long days!

I was mowing along the corn field and this little guy was just cuter than all the others so I had to go back and take a picture! 🌽 And then I was busted doing my photo shoot by a sneaky little farmer jumping on my back!

It’s been a long hot summer with very little rain. The crops have suffered and so have our attitudes. We got a shot of rain last week so the grass greened up a bit and the season is changing. The combines are rolling and the farmers are calculating their yield. Today we choose to be thankful for the view from their office!

Anyone else get lyrics stuck in their head when they see nature’s beauty?
