Today is for the moms! But especially our mom. The one who endures hours and even days sitting in uncomfortable ER and hospital chairs. The one who does chores every day even though I’m the one who wants to add so many animals. The one who is willing to do hard things and get dirty. The one who loves us no matter what. We have too many cats!

These August 2025 kittens are ready to start new adventures. Great mousers!! These were also Papa’s very last kittens before he was neutered. They have great personalities from him!

Now that the “secret” is out, here’s a sneak peek at our new addition coming home June 7! I am SO excited to meet and introduce “J” 😍 We’ve been following this farm for quite a while and finally decided it was time (okay, maybe *I* decided it was time 🙈). This purebred Nubian fell into our laps, and they and their dam have the best names that just proved it was meant to be! 🩷

🎤And with that, the 2026 HGL kidding season has come to an end 🎤

Some 2026 kidding season fun facts:
1.) We had 19 kids, 8 bucks & 11 does, born out of 10 does.
2.) Jupiter is our oldest doe at 9, and had her 8th litter.
3.) We bought 1 kid (more coming in June!)
4.) We are retaining 3 kids.
5.) We unfortunately lost 3 kids.
6.) This year's tattoo letter for the registry is V, so all the kids’ names started with V.

2 year old first freshener with her buck/doe twins. Scottie and kids are very friendly! Scottie was shown the past 2 years as a junior kid and dry yearling. Scottie and Violet will leave with ADGA registration. Victor can leave as an ADGA buckling or wethered.

Happy 4th birthday to Finnegan! He is such an important part of HGL. He protects our animals all day every day and loves his job more than anything. We got so lucky to pick out such an amazing dog. Finnegan, thank you for protecting our farm and family. We love you!!

Perks of being the LGD (livestock guardian dog) are treats on butchering day. Here he is with a chicken leg 😜 My favorite picture of him!
