What kind of hogs do we raise?

Attention hogs! 😅😍

Kunekune pigs are the easiest and most enjoyable pigs we have owned.

Saturday morning walk through the pigs looks something like this. Some food, some checking this or that, lots of flattery, a little jealousy, but mostly the best vibes ever. 🥰

This could explain why the kiddie pools don’t hold water. 😅 As long as someone is enjoying them, I guess that’s a win.

It’s a goaty kind of night. This guy is so soft and really laid back. He’s earned the right to stay the winter and therefore gets a name!

Sticking with the opera names for the goats because they’re all about the dramatics🎭, meet Rigoletto!

Marianne and Elinor are getting a weigh-in soon. They missed a few over the summer while it was sooo hot out. Any and all extra time was spent hosing everyone down and making sure everyone was staying cool.

While they’re growing, they get extra meals to give them a good start. The tail wagging at mealtime is getting its own post soon. 🫶

I’ve been enjoying the desarpa videos on social media this week and this popped up in my memories. It was the desarpa in Aosta 16 years ago. There is something so beautiful about seeing the cows, goats, sheep, etc coming down the mountains after a summer grazing in higher pastures. It really brings home the feeling of the seasons changing. And as many things have changed over the years, the transhumance is still the same. 🥰 🍂
