This is it! Preorders close April 1st, and we won’t offer pork again until next year.
We’ve had a lot of questions about pricing, so here’s a clear breakdown 👇
💰 Average Total (Whole Hog): $1,468
⚖️ Average Price: $5.24 per lb (based on ~280 lb hanging weight - this is what you pay for meat going into your freezer)
➡️ What does that actually mean?
Your total cost is split between the farm and the butcher:
Paid to Back 40 Homestead (your farmer):
• $3.60/lb hanging weight
• ≈ $1,008 (based on 280 lbs)
Paid to the butcher (separately at time of pickup):
• Kill fee
• Per lb processing fee
• ≈ $460 total
