Went out to take some pictures of the fall colors on the ranch but it appears the girls wanted to be the center of attention. They are definitely a curious group.

The days are getting shorter and the leaves are just starting to turn color. The girls are waiting for those leaves to hit the ground!

Our night temps have dropped into the mid 30's this week. Fall is here. My favorite time of year!

This is amazing!

Archaeologists in Lüscherz, near Lake Bienne (Bielersee) in Switzerland, uncovered a 4,700-year-old ball of yarn dating back to around 2700 BC an extraordinary discovery from the Neolithic era.

Its preservation is exceptional, as organic materials like yarn rarely survive for thousands of years. Scientists believe the yarn was protected in an oxygen-free environment such as lake sediment or peat, which prevented decay.

This ancient thread offers direct evidence that Neolithic communities were already spinning fibers and producing textiles for clothing, nets, and everyday use.

The find highlights the sophistication of these early farmers and craftspeople, showing that they not only cultivated crops but also mastered fiber processing. Sites around Lake Bienne are UNESCO-listed for their pile dwellings, and this humble yet ancient ball of yarn connects us vividly to the creativity and skill of Europe’s earliest settled societies.
