Been missing out on going out and about lately..

But it's just a reminder that there's a season for everything. 🙃 Even though we're currently not out exploring the city or dancing with friends at least we're making some progress 🤩 with our little businesses.

Last week, one of our Etsy shops received 9 back to back sales!!🤯🎉 The funny thing was it was all of the same products and print. Our guess is that they are probably a group of friends about to be matching at a festival this year. How cute is that?? 🥹 And I sure hope we get tagged in a photo or two!! 🤞🏽😎 Cause that would just be too cool.

Anyway, the moral of this post is to enjoy where you are now in your journey no matter what that looks like. ✨

Don't get us wrong now.. we know it's not impossible! 💪 We have friends who are just thriving in Cali! 🤩 Huge kudos to them for finding a way.

But for US... it was much further away from the truth.

Tea is much more than just a beverage. Above all, it's a cultural tradition that spans centuries and continents. One of the lesser-known aspects of tea culture is the tradition of tea pets. These small, usually ceramic or clay figurines are meant to bring good luck and positive energy to the tea-drinking experience.

Tea has a well-documented history, but the same can't be said for tea pets. While one record in the "Yangxian Famous Pottery Records" from the Ming Dynasty mentions a clay tea pet maker. However, it's unclear whether these sculptures actually served as tea pets. Despite this, historians believe they originated during the Ming Dynasty. Though no surviving works from that period exist. Ultimately, they became more common during the Qing Dynasty, with many on display at the Palace Museum in Beijing. Those on display are mostly from the Qianlong period.

Over time, the use of tea pets expanded beyond the realm of commerce and into the personal tea-drinking experience. Today, they are popular among tea enthusiasts around the world. They come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and designs.

One of the overlooked traditions is the practice of "feeding" them with leftover tea. After a tea session, it is customary to pour any remaining tea over the tea pet as a way to honor and show gratitude for the positive energy it brings to the experience. Another uncommon knowledge of the history is that they were sometimes used to test the quality of the tea being served. The figurines are made from porous materials, and if the tea was of poor quality or contaminated, it would seep into the clay and stain the figurines. This helped tea merchants ensure that they were only serving the highest quality tea to their customers.
