Took a little walk by the hives this afternoon. Not as hot so they are not “bearding” on the entrance. But tell you what. You can smell the honey from 20 feet away with the slight breeze!!
Bearding is when the bees hang around the outside of the hive because it is too hot inside. So don’t panic if you see it. They are actively fanning the entrance to create movement of air within the hive to regulate the inside climate. Bees have to maintain a steady temperature and humidity within the hive to support optimal larvae growth.
