It's the simple things in life!
It's the start of something good!
Spring is here for us!
Can't wait for the new season of life!
Got to get together and host the 'Lunch Ladies of Ebenezer' and make lots of meals for our local Food Pantry. All ingredients and time are donated by neighbors and friends who want to give a hand up to those having a hard month.
We get to have a fun couple hours of laughing and talking while keeping our hands busy for others. I highly recommend finding a group for yourself that does something similar.
It will soon be a sea of green!
Because at some point you turn 40...and it's time to mourn your youth in the most fun way possible!
WOW! Look at this wild Lion's Mane Mushroom Growing on one of our dying Oaks.
First time I've seen one in nature!
They are rare too. And very medicinal.
Fall is not letting me down this year!
It's that time of year again when the temps are dropping and those living in their cars or on the streets are going to be needing some warmth.
The kids and I are at it again to help "Memphis On A Mission" to pass out items and food to keep families, youth and individuals warm and fed this winter season.
PM to donate items to pass on to others in need, monetary donation, or spare time you may have to prepare meals to be served.
Be inspired to lend a helping hand to our neighbors in need!
*feel free to share this post on your page*
Memphis is a 15 year old with a huge heart that has been thinking of others her whole life in a really big way! She created "Memphis On A Mission" to do what she could to help those on hard times. She is an inspiration and light in our 417 community.
Turkey tail in all its glory!
This one I'm leaving for fall display but its friends I left on the stump I found him on are going to go into some medicinal tea!
Trametes Versicolor
Boom! Thank you to all my hard working bees! And some great neighbors for helping teach this rookie.
Now to get some honey out of this comb and share.
It's weird...I know!
But our jam lately has been what I call "Lunchbox Sushi"
All the things you'd put between two pieces of bread... throw it in some Nori!
We have done it with just white American and lunch meats as well as a spread of cream cheese and all the yummy fridge toppings you can stand.
Tightly hand roll it...no tools needed... and cut with a bread knife! Yum!
This allows for an easy GF lunch or dinner that's just as quick and easy!
Plus Nori keeps almost forever in the Pantry so we never run out and it doesn't go moldy.
Try it! Tell me what you put in yours.

Livi, my 6 year old, made her first sale for her little business 'Pickles & Petals'.
She was so excited! And we are going to frame her first money made.
Only 5 couples tickets left for a fun dinner, silent auction and music all for a good cause this Saturday! Message me for tickets
Remember those second hand beauties?
Fall candles by yours truly!
Created these for a basket for a silent auction fundraiser. But I may be on to something here!
New adventures await for these cheap Beauts!
Can you guess what they are going to be?
It's not my best work...but it's more than what we started with!
First time growing potatoes in grow bags. Thought it would do better than in the ground but nope!
My guess is the bag dirt I used was not composted enough as it had a bunch of bark in it.
The breaking down of woody matter can bind up nutrients in the soil. That's why you top dress with wood mulch instead of tilling it in.
I don't give up easily. So I will be trying again with different soil. Or even just sifted of the same so there are not chunks of wood in it.
These potatoes were watered everyday and fed along the way so they should have no excuses!
A new duckling born!
These are the favorite days for the kids. It's even better than getting a new toy!
Evening harvest!
A couple of rain storms finally passed through this summer and the produce is starting to take off.
It's crazy how much growth happens from rain water compared to well water.
Makes me think that I need to do more rain capture to water in between rains.
I love all the seasons but summer gives and gives and I will miss it!
This time of year I am having to push myself to not just sit back and enjoy the rewards of hustling butt through spring.
Plus it's stinkin' hot out!
But I'm trying to get motivated to clean up from the Spring hustle and start some more Lettuces, Kale, Chard, Spinach, Cauli & Broccoli, Cabbages, Asian greens, Arugula, Brussels, and a second round of Zuchini to get another harvest early fall when squash bugs are gone. And to start some perenial flowers that will be in their full glory next season.
Whoot Whoot!
Got 2nd place in the Historic Ebenezer Independance Day Parade!
Our first time placing. The kids were very excited!
Loving on some new piglets!
American Guinea Hogs mixed with unknown breed but stay smaller and are easy to handle.
These babies will be ready to go in 8 weeks.
The first posie bouquet by our 5 year old who wants to start her own business called 'Pickles & Petals'...her two favorite things!
We've been slowly building up the cut flower garden so that it will be going good by the time she's eight and ready to start.
Power company needed to cut a live oak down...so I ordered some Sh*takes!
Hopefully these logs will feed us for a few years to come.
No waste here!

My 6 year old wants to start her own business of cut flowers and pickles (her favorite). So we have been slowly adding to the perrenial garden to add some beautiful blooms to get big and established in the next two years when she starts. So any occasion we can make a bouquet together she is game on! #picklesandpetals #kidtrapreneurs #cutflowers #loacalflowers #flowerfarm #justgrow #naturalbeauty
Our 8 year old has decided to start his very own business this year! He is funding it with his chore money and doing the hard work to start it up. He wanted a rainbow array of eggs with 'sun kissed yolks', as we call them... and he came up with the name himself 😋. All ready super proud of him and can't wait for him to see success after the long work and wait for them to start laying. #kidtrapreneurs #layinghens #chickeneggs #chicks #farmfresh #growingstrong
Took a Mushroom Growing Class with a friend and now we have some blue oyster Mushrooms growing. They grow at a very noticeable rate each day. Can't wait to split this and make more bags and grow more! #indoorgardening #mushrooms #fungus #micelium #blueoystermushroom #newhobby #homestead #homegrown #cuteness
We have been dealing with it the last couple seasons. Extreme cold, stupid amounts of rain, then no rain, extreme heat... But we just try to ignore those things. Look for the good things happening and move forward. We can work with not perfect. Just takes some tweaking. Bilbo here was supposed to be goat and chicken friendly. But we quickly learned he was neither. It took some time and work and he now wants to just hang with the goats while they fill their bellies during the day. And he stopped filling his belly with our hens. Don't get stuck on perfect! Everything is a work in progress. #homesteadtruth #farmlife #greenerpastures #goats #guardiandog #grazing #littlemoments
Piglets are literally the cutest! (I say this of all the farm babies) These are American Guinea Hog mix. Not sure what the mix is but some come out speckled sometimes. They grow a little faster and leaner than the AGH but still stay a moderate sized pig that's great for a small homestead and great for home butchering. And they do a great job clearing scrub land! Piglets will be for sale soon as we have several different ages getting weened. #americanguineahogs #pigs #piglets #baconbits #farmbabies #growyourown #sustainable #springfieldmo
