I was this many years into quail before I realized that I could see if a boiled egg was fertilized 😱🤣.

If we bring deviled quail eggs to share, just know this was a labor of love...

First I earned the money for their food and utilities (not cheap!)

Then we...

Carefully collected eggs for hatching.
Babied the incubator for 3 weeks.
Hatched out baby chicks and mother henned them for eight more weeks, sometimes with cleaning and feeding and watering three times a day. Sometimes in the very dark and cold days of winter, or terribly hot days of summer.
Sorted out the boys and the girls and set up their flocks so they don't murder each other 🤣
Drove miles to Tractor Supply to get their things, and order things online.
Specially ground and blended their food (my sweetheart usually does this ❣️❣️❣️).
Collected five dozen eggs.
Carefully boiled them stirring constantly, preferably with the help of my sweetheart who is very good at this!
Peeled all the eggs... About 60 of them.
Set aside any eggs that did not survive the process.
Cut the remaining eggs in half, about 48 of them.
Carefully removed the yolk and put them in a bowl.
Arranged the empty half eggs into carry containers. About two dozen half eggs per container.
Collected five more fresh eggs and make homemade mayonnaise.
Blend the mayonnaise with the egg yolks and other things to make yummy goo.
Set up a cake decorating tube just like my mama showed me and pipe into all 96 half eggs.
Garnished with things.
Very carefully transported them to the event 🥺

And that's it! Eight dozen yummy bite size deviled eggs.

Well I wasn't planning on raising winter birds this year. And yet here we are 🤣

One last hatch by special request. Surprised ourselves with (finally) a nice chick from our black hen who typically lays unhatchable eggs. Decided to hold back eight chicks for ourselves including the black chick, but may end up with many more as it seems the special request has fallen through. Ended up dividing them into two brooders..they were SOooooo overcrowded! So winter birds it is 🙃

Should we require a non-refundable deposit for special request hatches?
