Yesterday was a beautiful day! I spent most of the day outside working on the farm.

I'm still dealing with an injury that happened back in December, so all of my physical activity is slow moving but I was able to plant seven blueberry bushes, a PawPaw tree, and a Persimmon tree. ☺️ I also harvested all of my Shampoo Ginger, and watered all of the fruit trees I put in last weekend.

Got to attend the Missouri State Beekeepers Association's State Conference yesterday. An all-day event featuring lots of educational classes, vendors with products, lots of networking/socializing, and more. So glad I got to go!

It was a beautiful day today! FINALLY had a block of free time so I took advantage and got my new fruit trees added to the orchard! I planted 3 apple trees, 1 pear tree, 1 nectarine tree, and an apricot tree. It took me about 5 hours but I got it done!

Did you know that vanilla beans come from a type of Orchid? The only fruit-bearing Orchid alive. The seeds are so small that they don't germinate well. And IF you could get one to, it would take 5-7+ years to go from seed to a flowering plant ready to reproduce. That's why most growers use rootstalk cuttings instead. But even after the flower is pollinated, it takes 9 more months to ripen on the vine. Then, it has to be dried for another 3 months before it becomes what we all know as vanilla bean pods. It's a pretty cool looking plant.

Anyway, learn something new everyday.

Everything we make is created with intention, using plants, herbs and ingredients we genuinely love working with. We’re proud to grow what we can, source locally when possible, and keep our products connected to the homestead they come from.

Unfortunately, I have some unexpected circumstances come up with our business that require our immediate attention. Unfortunately, it means I’m not going to be able to teach our Growing Greene Homesteaders Fermenting Class this Friday. 😔

I’m truly sorry for the short notice and any inconvenience this may cause. I know many of you were looking forward to the class, and I was too!

In fact, this is the first time in the three years we've had this group going, that I have ever had to cancel one of our classes, so please know that this was not a decision I made lightly. I absolutely hate having to cancel, but sometimes life—and business—throws us those unexpected curveballs.

The good news is that we have a new date! 🎉

🗓️ The Fermenting Class has been rescheduled for Friday, November 6th.

I completely understand that this change may not work for everyone, and I sincerely apologize. I know everyone has busy schedules, and I hate having to make this change at the last minute.

🙏 Please help me spread the word! If you know someone who was planning to attend, please tag them or share this post so we can make sure everyone gets the message about the cancellation and new date.

Thank you all so much for your understanding, patience, and continued support. I truly appreciate this community and hate having to cancel on you. ❤️

Found something cool while doing 10 hours in the garden today. Thought it was close to hatching and I was really curious what it was. Brought it inside and put it in a glass box. Within 2 minutes it emerged! Haha. That was close! Beautiful hummingbird moth! We released it outside. Love those little guys! 💞
