If you’ve toured up and down the Napa Valley, you’ve tasted countless $45-$85 (or more!) Sauvignon Blanc. And most are great in that, “My owners needed an expensive white to go with all this $200-$300 Cabernet” kind of way! Today’s feature is also an outlier from a killer Napa winery built primarily on Bordeaux-style reds. Thus the name Dissonance. But at $20 it falls into the “drink with impunity” category!

Think somewhere between Sauvignon Blanc and Albariño: vibrant citrus, fresh herbs, stone fruit, and a crisp, refreshing finish.

Join us Saturday, June 13 from 3:00–4:30 PM as Tanner Austin leads a tasting through the Lasso Motel lineup, including the 4 Year, Rum, VDN, Darts, 8 Year, and 18 Year.

Stay after for our Whiskey Pop-Up Bar (4:30–8 PM), where we’ll be opening dusty cellar bottles and pouring some rare favorites by the pour.

• Awesome with spring peas, asparagus, etc.

Telmo Rodriguez, of Remelluri, was one of the most important wine personalities in Rioja. Then he went on to acquire 90ha of “grand cru vineyards across Spain becoming one of the country’s leading voices on terroir and organic farming practices.

Today we feature his brilliant Verdejo from Rueda. Tasting this powerhouse white is like putting your ear to the ground in a hundred year old, bush-trained vineyard. If they made Sancerre in NW Spain, it would be like this! If they made this in Burgundy, it would be $75! With some neutral barrel aging, the wine pours a pale straw color and shows zesty notes of citrus, fennel, dried herb and a soft floral character. The label inspiration comes from an old radio that blares in the vineyard to keep away opportunistic boar who otherwise forage on the fruit. Their loss . . . .
