We wanted to let the Wheelz Mealz fan club know that Thomas passed away on February 17th, 2025 at the age of 23 due to cardiac arrest. Thomas was an advocate to his core! Please keep advocating for accessibility in our community!

I am pleased to announce my return after a relaxing summer break. I was in Florida on June 22nd to June 30th. While in Florida my family and I visited one of our favorite Florida stops, Smokey Bones BBQ. I ordered their cornbread with pecan butter, and brisket with mashed potatoes and steamed brocolli.
The cornbread is fantastic and not overly sweet. The brisket was insanely tender and melt in your mouth, I was shocked at how awesome it was, the mashed potatoes came with gravy and were very tasty. The steamed brocolli came with butter and salt which is always a welcome addition.

The restaurant was very accessible with good parking options, a wide entry door, very spacious interior and plenty of seating.
I rate the food a 9 out of 10
I rate the accessibilty a 9 out of 10

On Sunday, May 26th, I had lunch at Reeds Spring Pizza Company & Sports Lounge in Nixa, Missouri, where I ordered the antipasto salad and a small pizza with pepperoni, spinach, mozzarella, and provolone cheese. The pizza was extremely cheesy with an excellent cheese pull and plenty of the ordered toppings. The salad was made with high-quality ingredients and had a tasty Italian dressing that they did not skimp on. The service was great and everyone was very kind.

For accessability the parking is on the Nixa square so it is very limited but does allow handicap vechicles easy ramp access. Also being in an older building there is no automatic door button. The building was easy to navigate with plenty of seating options for wheelchairs. Overall I would rate the accessibilty a 9/10

On Monday, May 20th I went to Rocco's Pizza of Nixa for an early dinner. They specialise in New York style Pizza. For my meal I ordered a large pizza with spinach, pepperoni, and Italian sausage. Since I am of age I also indulged in a cranberry mule(Which consisted of a moscow mule with the addition cranberry juice.) The pizza as always was on point, not being overly sauced or cheesed, instead consisting of just the right amount of both. As well as having well distributed toppings and plenty of them. The cranberry mule had a ginger kick with a tart acidic sweetness added from the cranberry juice, being vodka based it was very potent but tasty.(also since I'm in a wheelchair is this considered drinking and driving?)

The parking lot is fairly small with limited accessible parking. The entry is plenty wide for wheelchairs but lacks a automatic handicap button for the door. The inside is spacious with pleny of accessible seating. The overall accessabitity rating is an 8 out of ten

Last wednesday, may 1st, I was able to find the new sprite, pepsi, and dr pepper flavors at Hy-Vee. Heres my review from least liked to most liked. The pepsi lime was definitely the weakest of the new sodas, it really tastes like more acidic pepsi with a very hard to detect hint of lime. The creamy coconut dr pepper is luckily mostly as expected with a burst of coconut fused with the familar flavor of dr pepper, the creamy part however seems to be missing. The best one by a long shot was the sprite chill(cherry lime flavor) containing a burst of lime flavor supported by cherry and lightly aided by lemon in the back, it also provides a cooling sensation which is really neat and refreshing. If you want to try one the sprite chill is my personal recommendation.

On Wednesday April 25th in the evening I went to Whole Hog Cafe Springfield on glenstone avenue. I ordered the burnt ends with chips and smoked green beans. They also have 6 sauces to choose from, my favorite was number 6, the vinegar and mustard sauce. The burnt ends were well seasoned and very tender to the point they "melt" in your mouth. The green beans paired well with the meat.

The parking lot had plenty of room for a handicap accessible van. The crosswalks next to the handicap parking spots have extra space and plenty of room. The entry way is wide enough for wheelchairs, however there was no automatic door button so someone will have to open it. The inside was very open with plenty of accessible seating options. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The accessiblity gets an 9/10 as other then the lack of a automatic door button everything else was acceptable for a wheelchair.

On Wednesday April 17th I went to Los Paisas Mexican Restaurant for dinner. I ordered the Birria Tacos which includes 3 Birria Tacos and the consomme to dip them in. The Tacos were fantastic with a nice crispy corn tortilla, plenty of flavorful meat and a heathly serving of cheese. As always the consomme is a punch of extra flavor that ties everything together.

The parking is great with the handicap spots right next to the sidewalk ramp which is not steep at all. The entry way door is plently wide but is missing an automatic door button. There is a good amount of space between the tables with a few easily accessible tables right up front. The staff are very friendly and accomadating and very kind. The overall accessibilty rating is a 8/10

On Wednesday, April 10th, I made Chicken stir fry at home with my staff as I am currently saving some money. I used chicken, snow peas, broccoli, zucchinni, and yellow squash with stir fry sauce, teriyaki sauce and soy sauce. I also made a spicy shrimp sauce with sriracha hot sauce, mayonaise and onion powder. I mixed everything together over rice and added a little extra soy sauce on top. It was very delicious and packed with flavor. I'd rate my home cooked meal a 9/10

On Saturday, March 30th, I went to Don Toño Food Truck for lunch. I ordered the Birria tacos, they only cost $10.50 and are packed with plenty of meat and come with Salsa Verde and consume to dip the tacos in. The tacos are jam-packed with flavor and aromatics.

The parking lot the food truck is located on is nice and flat, a little beat up, but certainly drivable in a wheelchair. The food truck is easy to access because of this. Accessibility rating 8/10.

On Wednesday, March 20th, in the evening I went to Curly Que Barbeque and Catering - Springfield Location. I ordered the 1 meat plate that came with 2 sides. For the meat I got burnt ends, which are my personal favorite, and for my two sides I got green beans and French fries, I also ordered an extra side of cheese curds. The burnt ends were very tender and practically falling apart. The green beans were very good, but different because they were sweet, salty and spicy. The French fries are a homestyle fry and are properly salted. Out of all the cheese curds I've had so far, I enjoyed these the best.

The parking is acceptable. The ramp onto the sidewalk works well but could use some guard rails. The entry door does not have an automatic button. The restaurant had plenty of space for a wheelchair. The bathrooms are easy to access and decently sized. Accessibility rating 8/10.

On Monday, March 18th in the evening I went to Fuji Japanese Seafood Sushi Bar & Steak House.

I ordered the Teriyaki Steak dinner which comes with rice, vegetables, noodles, and steak cooked with teriyaki sauce. I however asked for double rice, no noodles as I prefer to go lighter on the gluten side of things.
The rice is well seasoned with a nice salty taste contrasted by the richness of the eggs and sweetness added by the peas and carrots. The vegetables are simple but tasty. I got my steak medium rare, the steak was meaty with a nice salty and sweet flavor added by the teriyaki sauce.

The Entryway was plenty wide but was lacking an automatic door button. The inside is nice and open with plenty of seating options. The hallway to the bathrooms are narrow and hard to get through and the bathrooms are tight and therefore hard to navigate. For Accessibility I give fujis an 8 out of 10.
