Who needs a gym membership when you live on a homestead? 💪 This monster stump was blocking the tractor path we’re clearing and stabilizing. It had to go, so… it went. Pure functional fitness.

One milestone at a time inside the high tunnel.
​Groundwork is officially complete—interior grading and leveling are done, and the speakers are mounted so build days have a proper soundtrack. The on-site project supervisor (four legs, very strict about safety inspections) gave the dirt work a thorough walk-through and approved the progress. 🐾
​Next step in the layout: torching the raised garden bed lumber using the Shou Sugi Ban method for natural rot-resistance and longevity before assembling the beds.

Spooky season has officially taken over the homestead. 💀🌿
​Plot twist: there is zero green lighting inside. What looks like an eerie laboratory glow is actually just a standard barn light in the distance catching the greenhouse plastic and camera lens just right. Accidental gothic perfection? Absolutely.

The lights are back on at Slightly Savage.
​If things have been quiet on this end, it’s because life threw some massive, unexpected shifts my way over the last couple of weeks. On top of that, the weather decided to test the ground—massive tornado warnings tore through our area and touched down in neighboring towns, but the greenhouse and the homestead stood their ground. Dust settled, storms weathered, and moving forward.

​It’s officially September, which means kicking off my absolute favorite time of year: spooky season. Gothic high tunnel, stormy skies, and getting back to building what matters. Big homestead updates, fall routines, and future plans coming your way. We’re just getting started. 🌿⚡️
