First cut of the season. We are a little late getting in the field, but better late than never. We are making haylage bales. We will cut today and bale and wrap them tomorrow. The grass gets wrapped in plastic to allow fermentation.

This is one of our favorite tractors, on the farm. We purchased it a few years ago, from our friend Gordon Smith. These old 1586 tractors will run forever if you take care of them. Shout out to Snowy Hill Tractor for rebuilding the transmission this winter. She is running perfectly!

Some wonderful looking pork chops, that a customer sent us a picture of. He said they are so much different than what he was used to. They have much more flavor than grocery store pork. Stop in and try some for yourself. See the difference that pasture raised pork makes.

We have some new beef, swinging in the cooler. Hit us up if you are looking for a whole, half, or quarter.

We have one grass fed and grass finished beef and three grass fed and grain finished beef. All our beef is raised all naturally. No antibiotics or added hormones

The beef age 21 days. During the dry aging process they lose 10 to 15% of their weight due to water evaporation. The rest is yours to use.

We are here to walk you through the whole thing. Paul can help you make the most out 9f your purchase. He will talk with you about how you like to cook and the cuts you enjoy, so you get only what you will use. Each beef is different, so we can guide you on your specific beef.

Once ordered it usually is available for pickup in a week to two weeks, and sometimes less. Everything is cut to your specs and vacuum sealed. The prices we publish are out the door. What you see is what you pay. Give us a call with the number of the beef you want and the size. We will remove beef as they are sold.

We had a new batch of pigs born last night. These pigs are fifth generation out of our breeding stock. We work hard to select docile pigs that are easy on their environment. This has given us pigs that are easy to work with and they are easy on the ground and fences. All the cool colors are just a bonus.

These pigs will spend a week or two indoors before heading out to the pasture with the rest of the herd. They will spend about eight months on pasture before being sent to the processor. These heritage hogs grow a little slower than the commercial pigs and being on pasture tends to add a little time, as well. This extra time lends itself to a beautiful flavor profile you can only get with age and a grass bases diet. Stop by and try some for yourself.

Our chicken is free range and non-gmo fed. Every chicken is USDA inspected at the processor.

We have an excess of chicken leg and thigh quartes and we need to make some space in the freezers.

Everyone wants boneless, skinless breasts. That leaves us with a ton of extra chicken parts. We have, already, marked down wings to 1.99/lb. Now we need to move out some leg quarters. This is a super opportunity to get some amazing chicken at a very reasonable price.

Check out the link to our website for current pricing. www.davieshillsidefarm.com

We have several hundred pounds, currently available. I will edit the post to say they are gone, once we sell out. They are gone!! Thank you.

There is just something so soothing about watching any of the critters grazing.

Large Marge wanted to show me her new baby this morning. We call her large Marge, because she is the smallest cow on the farm. She is five years old and is only 800lbs. Most of our girls are in the 1300 to 1600pound range. This is Marge's third calf. She is always the fastest to breed back, averaging just under 10.5 months between calves. She is a great mother too. This year, her calf was sired by our black baldie bull. She looks just like daddy ๐Ÿฅฐ

Stay cool today folks. Its hot and humid out there. We look forward to seeing you ๐Ÿ˜Š.

The guys are putting up a new bull pen, today.

Here is a video of Rob taking post to pound town.๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ It sure beats the old fashioned way with an auger and hammer. This pen will have to be solid. Three, adult, bulls can do some serious damage.

Just thought you guys would like to see how we do it.
