It’s starting to get chilly out which means it’s time to warm up next to a fire! We will be selling seasoned hardwood firewood in bundles and truckloads. A bundle will be 10-12 pieces depending on the size of logs and a truckload will be approximately a 4ftx8ft stack. If interested call the number on our page to set up a pickup/drop off.

Cover crops: Over the past couple of weekends we’ve been busy putting cover crops and fertilizer into the ground to prepare the soil for next season. We planted a mix of winter wheat and groundhog radishes. The wheat are the brown seeds and the radishes are purple due to a coating that makes them a smooth uniform size. Doing this lets the seed move smoothly through the planter. This mixture will help benefit the soil in a variety of ways by preventing erosion and minimizing the run-off or “ leaching” of nutrients like nitrogen. The deer also love snacking on them!

Our tomatoes are great for homemade tomato soup!

Ingredients:
4-5 tomatoes
1 head of garlic (can replace with minced garlic)
1 red bell pepper
1 white or red onion
Vegetable oil
Salt and pepper
Vegetable broth
Heavy whipping cream (optional)

Steps:
1) preheat oven to 425 °F
2) cut up all tomatoes, onion, and bell pepper and place onto baking sheet with garlic
3) drizzle oil over all the veggies and season with salt and pepper
4) place into oven for 30-45 mins (until everything is roasted)
5) take out of oven and blend (with a traditional blender or immersion blender) with the vegetable broth to your desired thickness
6) add some heavy whipping cream on top if you want the soup to be creamy
7) serve up and enjoy!

We have a ton of tomatoes at $3/Lb or canning tomatoes at $8/5lbs to sell and the occasional okra for $3/Lb. If you have ever wondered how so many plants can be planted so fast, this is how. With the help of a trans-planter we are able to plant around 150 plants in 10 minutes. With the help of my father driving, we were able to knock a couple rows out in no time.

 Peppers, Okra, and Tomatoes. Just a couple of products that I will be offering this summer. The pictures shown are the plants that will be grown in the field this summer. We prestart the plants in a green house to give them a head start. This way the plants reach maturity earlier in the season therefore producing fruit sooner.
