Something I discovered while preparing for the Garden Club Cocktail Party is that hospitality has very little to do with the size of your house. It’s more about your guests feeling welcomed, some tasty treats and simple cocktails as well as attention to small details. That’s all you need. A few flowers from your cutting garden work as well as a beautifully crafted bouquet. So, invite people over! Pour some drinks, pass the apps. Let the conversation and laughter do the rest.

Last night we traded Missouri for the French Riviera, at least for a few delicious hours!

Cooper’s Hawk hosted a French Riviera Wine Dinner, and the evening felt like a little escape to the Mediterranean. The dress code was black and white, which made the whole event feel especially chic and très français. There’s something so fun about a themed dinner when everyone joins in!

Of course, the real stars of the evening were the food and wine. Course after course gave us a taste of that relaxed, elegant French Riviera lifestyle, paired with Cooper’s Hawk wines and plenty of good conversation. These wine dinners are such a fun way to slow down, try something new, and turn an ordinary evening into an experience.

And then came the trivia contest.

If you know Bob, you probably won’t be surprised to hear that HE WON! Apparently all those interesting facts tucked away in his brain finally paid off. I was happy to sip my wine, cheer him on, and enjoy the glory by association.

Black and white attire. French Riviera flavors. Beautiful wines. A little friendly competition. And a trivia champion at my table.

C’est la vie… and what a good life it is!

Years ago, my sister and I used to giggle as we watched a bus full of “older ladies” leave our hometown, headed for some mystery destination. We never imagined that one day... we’d be those ladies on the bus.

Well, this week we climbed aboard a bus bound for Niagara Falls, looked at each other, and burst out laughing. Life has a funny way of bringing things full circle. And honestly? We had the best time.

Life is short. Take the trip. Say yes to the adventure—even if you’re one of the “old ladies” on the bus. This week I’ll be sharing highlights from our very first bus tour, and I’d love for you to come along for the ride.

There was a moment today when I thought our annual sunflower adventure had completely missed its chance.

Field after field had already bowed their heads to the season, their bright yellow petals now faded and gone. For a minute, I felt a little disappointed…until I remembered that nature rarely tells just one story.

We wandered a little farther, laughed a little harder, and found just enough golden blooms to satisfy my soul. They were tucked here and there like little reminders that beauty doesn’t have to be abundant to be meaningful.

And somehow, those determined sunflowers led us straight into the funniest little adventure.
I’ve decided the best travel days aren’t the perfect ones. They’re the ones that surprise you, make you laugh, and send you home with a story worth telling.
