🌱 The Wensleydales are on pasture, enjoying their first fresh grass of the season. After a long winter, spring pasture provides nutrient-rich forage that supports their health and wellbeing, while giving them the chance to express natural behaviors like roaming and selective grazing.
At Birdsfoot Farm, managed grazing is an important part of our regenerative farming practices. As our sheep move through pasture, they help fertilize the soil naturally, encourage healthier root systems, improve water retention, and support biodiversity above and below ground. Thoughtful rotational grazing also helps prevent overgrazing, allowing fields time to recover and grow stronger.
For us, grazing season is about more than green fields and happy sheep, it’s part of a farming system that works with nature to build healthier soil, healthier animals, and a more resilient farm ecosystem. 💚🐑
