What’s in the new cooler at Local Harvest? Just more fresh foods made in-house using the best local and organic ingredients! Our prepared foods team has been hard at work the last couple years perfecting our lineup of sandwiches, salads, wraps, dips, and more. These options have been available in our original grab & go cooler, but now they have their own dedicated spot with room to grow!
Gonna brag a bit here, as there are just so many great things about our prepared foods program:
1. reducing food waste. We’ve become experts at giving our “inglorious” produce new life- no tomato goes to waste around here
2. easy seasonal eating. We’re always thinking of new ways to incorporate seasonal produce and update our offerings as the seasons change
3. high quality ingredients. We use the same local and organic ingredients we sell, so you know it’s going to be good
4. low overhead. Restaurant quality foods without the restaurant price tag. Everything we make is also EBT eligible!
5. inclusive options. Omnivores, vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free customers all have options here
We are just so proud of what we’ve been able to do with this still relatively new program and our very small space. It’s honestly incredible what our staff can accomplish. Can’t wait to keep filling this baby up with more fresh, local food!
