Joyful Noise Homestead

Joyful Noise Homestead Shout to the LORD, all the earth; break out in praise and sing for joy! Psalm 98.4

Ladies and gentlemen… the Orchard Class has officially moved outside. 🥹🦆

After weeks of brooder chaos, splashy bathtub parties, and supervised fence meetings with the ‘big ducks,’ the babies are finally joining the flock with Harley, Thelma, and Louise. The boys will slowly start to be integrated.

Needless to say, it’s a very big day around here. 💛

There has been:
• cautious waddling
• dramatic staring
• tiny duck meetings
• much snacking
• Harley supervising like an exhausted kindergarten teacher

The babies are sticking close together for now, but they are LOVING the extra room to explore. Watching them discover the kiddie pool has been a joy!

The Orchard Class of 2026 is growing up way too fast. 🥹🌿

“UM. HELLO?!

There has apparently been a magical berry tree hidden in the far back corner of the range this WHOLE TIME?!

You’re telling us snacks just FALL from the sky back there?!

We have spent our lives digging through dirt like tiny feathery archaeologists while this secret chicken buffet has been quietly existing without our knowledge.

Absolutely disrespectful.

Current situation:
• chickens sprinting across the yard at unsafe speeds
• purple beaks
• berry-stained feet
• Larry attempting to establish himself as Lord of the Mulberries
• at least one hen screaming every time a berry drops

The humans are calling it a “mulberry tree.”

We are calling it:
✨The Forbidden Snack Forest✨

Needless to say… productivity in the egg department may temporarily decline while we investigate further.” 🐔🍇

As much as we adore our ridiculous turkey boys, we’ve made the difficult decision to look for a new home for Enoch and NutJob. 💛

They are healthy, full of personality, and very much true to their names some days. They spend their time snood-swinging, supervising chores, causing general turkey nonsense, and demanding snacks like tiny feathered dinosaurs.

With everything we have going on lately, we just feel like they deserve more time and attention than we’re currently able to give them. We would love to find them a safe, caring home where they can continue being spoiled and wonderfully weird.

We are potentially open to trading the two boys for a turkey hen as well, since Old Man is staying here at the homestead and we’d love to eventually find him a lady friend of his own. 🦃

If you or someone you know may be interested, feel free to message the page for more information. Please share to help us find the right fit for these boys. 💛

Old Man has apparently decided he is now an indoor turkey… at least part time. 😂

Lately he’s been coming inside for short little visits, and somehow this giant feathered dinosaur has learned that if he pecks on my office door, we’ll let him in. Because obviously that’s a completely normal thing to type out as a grown adult.

He’ll wander around, supervise everyone for a bit, accept his admiration, and then head back out like he owns the place. Which honestly… he probably does.

Also before anyone says anything — yes, the bare mattress is because it’s laundry day. The turkey timing did not align with the bedding schedule. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

BREAKING NEWS FROM THE ORCHARD CLASS OF 2026:

Tonight’s scheduled programming included:
✅ Evening chores
✅ Duckling bedtime
❌ A coordinated baby duck jailbreak

At some point, 8 tiny feathered delinquents managed to POP THE LATCH to their gate and stage a full prison escape into the basement. By the time we found them, they were running wild, covered in old spiderwebs, looking like tiny haunted swamp creatures. 🫠

Nothing humbles a homesteader quite like chasing awkward teenage ducklings around the basement while yelling “GET BACK HERE” as they scatter in 8 different directions.

Current status:
• Ducklings secured
• Gate security under review
• Trust issues developing

I’d like everyone to know that this was absolutely organized by Mumble and Figgy Smalls. The others were merely accomplices. 😂🦆

If you’ve noticed things looking a little different around here lately… you’re not wrong 😊

Joyful Noise Homestead is still very much *home*—our animals, our eggs, our everyday life, and all the moments that make this place what it is. That part isn’t going anywhere 💛

But over the past few months, something else has been growing alongside it—my handmade goods. What started as a small creative outlet has turned into something a little bigger than I ever expected.

So to give both sides the space they deserve, I’ve created a new branch:

🌿Thistle and Hearth Mercantile 🌿

This will be the home for all of my handmade pieces—totes, mug rugs, key fobs, and everything else I’ve been working on. It allows me to keep Joyful Noise focused on the homestead life we love, while giving the Mercantile room to grow into its own.

You’ll still see pieces of both here from time to time, because they’re connected at the root—but this felt like the right next step.

Thank you for being here through all the seasons of this little homestead. It means more than you know 💛

Something new has been quietly taking shape behind the scenes… 🌿
A little slower, a little softer, and rooted in handmade, home, and heritage.
I’m not quite ready to share all the details yet—but it’s something I’ve been dreaming about for a while now.
For now, just know… something new is coming 🤍

You’ll still see everything you love from Joyful Noise Homestead—this is just a new branch growing alongside it.

I walked outside this morning, drink in hand, ready for a peaceful little homestead moment…
…and instead discovered that someone had unearthed a mole and turned my yard into a full-blown crime scene.
No suspects.
No witnesses.
Only chaos.
And three turkeys standing there like:

“We have no idea what happened.”
